I thought that all these events like Party 2001 and Keenspace Conspiracy, Fright Night etc, that I came up with an idea for a Sci-fi strip crossover. It wouldnt get flooded with applicants like the others because you would have to do a sci-fi/fantasy strip to be in it. This would also mean your comic would have more chance of getting noticed with a smaller number of people participating. What does everyone else think?
PS. If I did get the idea up and running, I would probably wait until after Party 2001 to get it up and running because of the volume of people already taking part in it(including me).
------------------

well, I read your comic strip and yes, definitely! - if this thing is going to happen though, I think we need to sign up properly like the other events. So I'll sign up first.
Name of Comic: Warp Factor 10
URL: http://warpfactor10.keenspace.com

I'm not sci-fi, but I would like to offer my vote for "2001: A Keenspace Oddity" as the title...
I donn't remember who initially suggested it, but it's a brilliant triple-reference!

------------------

Well... Lazy's World isn't Sci fi, But if it starts on KSpace Trukkies is Scifi...
but as for a Scifi cross over... may be, maybe not...
My Walkabouts are pretty much the same thing... I could do a week of Walkabouts with the Scifi strips of KSpace. I would have to think about it.
------------------
Like um read it eh!

Sounds like fun. Count me in. As long as you are doing the organizing and all the responsible parts, I'll throw in ideas and do the necessary comics.
Tyler Martin

Right guys, heres an update on my ideas, first of all thought about making it one long strip like Fiendraiser on Fright Night, so each person does a part of the story, and also when you sign up can u help me decide whether to use:
2001: A Keenspace Odditty
Lost in Keenspace, or
Space Trek: The Wrath of Keen
PS. Lazy, you're welcome to do part of the strip as Lazy's Walkabout!
------------------

Although I really love "Space Trek: the Wrath of Keen", this is really the only year we can get the full impact on "2001: A Keenspace Oddity". Of course, on the other hand, I'm already doing a 2001 parody event in Febuary, so I'd also be happy if we went with a different title. Is that adaquetly ambiguous?
I guess the bottom line is, I vote for "2001: A Keenspace Oddity".
In a similar story, has anyone else noticed that no one had the forsight to put out a "2001" 2001 calender? I thought it would have been obvious and I would have snatched one up just for the novelty. Oh well, I'll shut up now...
------------------

Could we use 'Oddysee', or are Oddworld Inhabitants likely to sue?
Oh, and before I forget, you can count me in.
------------------

I think the suggestion by Damonk of 'Oddity' is probably better as then the makers of 2001 the film cant sue us either.(well at least I think they cant)
------------------

From a legal standpoint, You can use other people's titles, as long as you've got your own defining word in there.
"2001: A KeenSpace Odyssey" would be just fine. Nobody can possibly mistake it for an official movie site, and a motion picture house will not be attracted to a legitimate lampoon as a source of bogus-suit revenue.
To further protect yourself, you post links to the official movie site, and maybe create an Amazon associate store so folks can buy the official movie through you. That way all traffic (and revenue) YOU get translates into traffic and awareness for the original.
By the way, I'm moderately interested in participating. I'm pretty busy working my own strip daily for the 'Spot, but I like crossovers. I'd also be happy to try and outline an overall script that lives up to the "Odyssey" name, but that level of collaboration would require some hefty communication somewhere. Maybe a free discussion board over at insidetheweb.com.
BUT it's y'all's party-- KeenSpacers are running it, and I'm just nosing in because I'm a Sci-Fi aficionado with his own SF strip. Feel free to tell me to back off. (I won't take offense, but I might come after you with a BH-209)
------------------

Yeah! Back off you mean nasty 'Spotter!
We need as much help as possible so we would be glad of anyones help at all!
Concerning the discussion board type idea, I'm about to setup an egroup and will post again when I have done that to tell you all what the address is.
Here's the update:
Heres the details for the egroup to discuss anything to do with next years sci-fi crossover event type thing.
Group name: keenspace-scifi

I'd get involved except for two points.
1.) I'm neither a Spacer or a Spotter,
and
2.) I wouldn't be able to help much in the art department, as art is not my strong suite.
Good luck though.
------------------
