Ooh, I like this. Allow me to integrate a theory of mine that I just came up with. The 23-sider, being a thing of greater power, may also have severe drawbacks. I think that once it grants your want, the want only lasts as long as you are the owner of the die and afterwards, the 23-sider cleans up after itself to make way for the next owner.
We had seen how Rumy was near the 23-sider when at the convention, and her want was to be loved. The xenochiclets provided that. It lasted for a while, but since she didn't hold onto it, her want started to go awry very quickly. Lance's want started to fall apart soon after he relinquished the die. Shanna's, which was probably to be taken care of, came true, but she rejected it soon after (if she had held onto the die as a personal possession, would she still be trapped?). Now what is Agent Jones' want that may or may not be granted? To have the Fans? Or to have FIB not exist?
If Diamond is right and the beasts are loosed, providing a nice distraction for Shanna to escape, then either want could be argued for. The Fans will not be his, and FIB may not exist in the ensuing chaos.
Heh.
Another thing, Agent Jones did "have" all of the Fans. They were all crippled from his attack, "in pieces". After he tossed the die aside, they started to come together again.
--Tuscahoma
[This message has been edited by Tuscahoma (edited 05-25-2001).]

Oooh, and what if some of the unicorns get freed?
Seen as the FANS break into FIB: The Fib agents are caged up, surrounded by upset former 'guests' of FIB. Shanna is busy trying to catch a unicorn, which advoids Shanna (since Shanna is not a virgin) and trots up to Rikk.
Picture Rumy and Tim's face faults as they realize that Rikk and Alisin's marriage has never been consumated.

I think that T has mentioned on the boards that Rikk and Alisin did consumate their marriage.
Actually, if a unicorn were to walk up to any fan, I think it would be Rumy (debatable, I know, but I don't think the Unicorn would consider what she and the Xenochiclet did together as sex). Now there was that guy Todd or something who dumped her...but politeness precludes us from asking Rumy on the Q&A (she probably wouldn't answer and would wind up slapping the audience member who asked that).
--Tuscahoma

Who says Shanna isn't a virgin? She seems, or seemed, pretty married to her work. And after the screw up of her parents' marriage, she might be hesistant in starting a relationship.

I'm still not sure if Shanna's abduction had anything to do with the 23-sider granting her want. According to the Sider Cultist, it activates at completely random intervals, not once per new owner.
------------------

What's about to happen? My guess:
Agent Jones' actions today indicated that not only was he afraid that his secret wish would be bad if it were furfilled, but that he knows exactly what it is "It's starting!" In another thread, Tuscahoma hypothesized that Jones' secret want was for the FIB to cease to exist. This fits Jones' response: shoot to kill. He's not thinking about breaking the Fans or saving humanity but desperate survivial at that point.
So what is the most likely and most dramatically appropriate way for that to come about? For a power failure to stop the suspended-animation field. For the cages to break all at once. For all the horrors and wierd stuff that have been stashed away to be unleashed on FIB's headquarters, all at once.
I'm going out on a limb, but I think we'll see that happen in due course. It fits Rikk's foreshadowing of "a devestating blow of epic proportions."

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN? Anyway, I figured that the creatures captured by the FIB would escape sometime during the series. Hypothetically, let's say two things happen, the FIB I destroyed by the Fans, and the monsters all escape as a result. Now the Fans must take over the FIB's job and hunt down these inhuman menaces to society, the now conscious collective. Then it would look like Agent Jones got his earlier want, the Fans are FIB, but just not in the way he figured.
Hmm, that is an interesting question. But do the Fans know that the FIB collects monsters?
