It's me, Kara Dennison (just a couple vowels off on the spelling, LOL), doing kiddie Shanna's voice, and my good friend Ali Quinn as Kath (she was also Kath in the "meeting" thingy). I did the mixing and stuff meself. Reverb rocks my world.
Strange what a college gal with too much time on her hands can do. If anyone's interested, I can direct ye to some other projects I've slapped voices onto. I'm making a career of this, kids. Or trying.

Mad props, as they say, to Mr. Waltrip, for a more effective visual portrayal of vertigo than any I've seen in quite a while. The only downside is that if I look at it too long, I either fall out of my chair or start talking like Jimmy Stewart, or both.
And, as someone who's done a few radio dramas in his day*, I gotta also hand it to Kara for some nice work on the audio portion of today's installment.
-- Nathan

Some of you may remember that awhile ago I was very excited to have found an anime rental place. Well, several months later I've finally rented there (I even have a neat rental card). Well I've wanted someone to talk Eva with so I rented the first two tapes of the series from the tiny "English Dubbed" section. It may just be my memory but the tapes we watched seemed to have a lower dub quality than I rememberred. Some of the voices were the same but others (like the very distinct Rei Ayanami) seemed way off. Was there two dubs of the show made? Or perhaps a change of actors part way through? The first time I saw it the tapes were a mix of sub and dub (I love subtitles, they allow you to here announcements in the background).
Interesting note. I watched it with Murasaki and our friend Mark. Murasaki had seen the first tape and knew what to expect. For our friend Mark though, a big explosion/fast car kinda guy, there was too much dead time between the fighting. And that was just tape one and two, neither of which had the infamous elevator scene. He did admit that the fights and the technoogy was "KEWL" though. So I have elected that on further rentals I'll watch the full episode with Murasaki and then use Fast Forwarding to show Mark the fight scenes. Then we can simply explain what happened between fights to Mark.
I thought this was sorta patronizing at first but I really think that Mark would hate to miss out on the action sequences.
Of course, the rentals are totally selfish in the first place. All I want is to be able to discuss the series with someone and have someone who'll get refs during RPG sessions.
------------------

This is a good time to plug fansubbers everywhere. Only a tiny fraction of the stuff out there is commercially available, and a lot of us are poor college students who can't really afford to plunk down close to $1000 for the complete Animeigo run of Urusei Yatsura, fer instance.
So let's support this cottage industry, and remember not to distribute the tapes once they're commercially available.
------------------

Maccabee -- it's coming. I fell into a slump last week, and am just now pulling myself out of it. I owe a LOT of tapes. o.O
I've actually found that the best place for voice actors to base themselves is Texas. It's true. I can't remember which studios are down there, but I know there are at least two that are quite active. So, my being in Virginia doesn't help that much.
Although I'm apparently involved in a "secret" project involving some people who worked on Evangelion, and are forming a new commercial sub/dub group. Sadly, I've already told you as much as I know.
I'm hoping to do more FANS-related stuff in future. I like playing Rumy, oddly enough.
