...feel a little bad for Hyperman?
Yes, he's been kind of a jerk, and yeah, he's Mr. Perfect, but if Lance's story about his origins are truthful, he's nothing but a pawn. He's done nothing but help the human race, tried to be an 'ideal man' and got repaid by trickery and scorn. Just another by-product of consorting with the human race, it seems..
Of course, there's also something to be said here about the slippery nature of perfection and the elusiveness of fictions like 'the ideal man.' (who doesn't exist and never will.) As always, virtues can turn to devestating liabilities when one isn't watching closely. Still, poor Hyperman. His only crime was being born a super studmuffin.
Poor dumb beefcake.
-Wish
Who could develop a taste for dumb beefcake if more of it came looking like Hypes.

I know what you mean, Wish. I've felt a little bad for him for a while now.
He might have been more than a bit naive and a little bit full of himself, but he at least seemed to be trying to do the right thing. What did he end up getting? Lance Clarkston's scorn, Agent Jones' manipulation, and a nasty beating at the hands of Rumy.
Too bad those hyper-powers didn't include hyper-brains.

My feelings of sympathy for Hype are tempered somewhat by my suspicions about his origin.
He knows he's "supposed" to be the perfect man. But he seems a little unclear on that, vacillating back and forth between "supposed" and "am." And most importantly, he asks himself what Capt. Turk would do-- a fannish question if ever I've heard one. And since we know where Rikk, Tim and Will are...
Nice cape, Guth. Shazam!
Oh, and Wish, it's comforting to see that us guys aren't the only gender that can fall for cartoon characters. (=
-- Nathan,
who would count as poor dumb beefcake, if only he were beefcake.

I can't bear to watch.. Poor, poor Hyperman. He was such a hottie, too! I was kinda hoping that he'd join the Club in the end, even if it was just an 'honorary' membership for him to carry around while saving the world.
As a matter of fact, I think there should be a Hyperman spin-off comic, just for us poor, bereved females (a group that might have a membership of just one, for all I know, but I'm SURE there are other girls out there who developed a soft spot for the big lunk. I guess I could technically include Kath and Alisin under than heading.) who had to watch our hunky lil' wet dream get all around trashed by some punk kid with anger issues.
Yeah, yeah, it's all pointless pie-in-the-sky rambling, but Hypes' pretty pretty face is all bruised up and smashed, so I have to think about happier things before I sink into depression. At least I've still got Will.
One final note -

quote:
Nathan Alderman:
Oh, and Wish, it's comforting to see that us guys aren't the only gender that can fall for cartoon characters. Wow.. Optimus was one of my biggest crushes. I used to want to marry him, now I just want to marry his voice actor. ^_^ (Do Prime again, sweetie!) I'm not so sure about the 'new' Optimus Primal from Beast Wars, who seems a little loopy, but the original always made me a little weak in the knees.
Heck yeah it counts! Thanks for the back-up, Judy.
-Wish

(I hope this doesn't cause a Thack Stream--but here goes...) The voice actor for Optimus Prime (I am 99.44 % sure) also played Spiderman for the series of the sixties/seventies. I know this because ABC did a piece on 20/20 several years back about Marvel Comics and Stan Lee and in it they played clips from both Transformers and Spiderman. Go figure.

Hmm...looked the fellow up on the Internet Movie Database. Peter Cullen. Plays Eeyore on "Pooh", was Airborne and Zandar on "G.I. Joe", and of course was Spiderman. Also played K.A.R.R. on "Knight Rider". Definitely a guy more heard than seen.

wish, you are a prime catch indeed. Do you know how many guys would kill to date a girl who gets all weak-kneed at the sound of "Autobots-- transform and roll out!" ?
I do feel sorry for Hype, but then again, how sexy can a man be who wears his undies on the outside of his clothes?
-- Nathan,
who, like Chris Ware, had a thing for Batgirl...

I didn't see it until my first week of college. In retrospect, I doubt I'd even have made it through Ironhide's death, let alone Prime's.
You know you're at the right college when you get together with the guys down the hall for a movie and one of them dives into his collection and comes up with Transformers. (And the three of you spend the rest of the night testing out the campus T1 connection on fan pages.)
Judy

That "Prime voice actor" did the narration on Voltron too, I'm quite sure.
Judy and Wish, will you marry me? I own Transformers the movie (and I still know all their names....and I cried when prime died)
------------------
