Well, you can rent table space and sell merchandise and hard copies of your comix, or you can just go and mingle, meet other artists who DID rend table space to hawk their wares, and see what kind of weird Star Wars and Pokemon stuff the vendors are selling. There are usually public forums discussing comix and gaming, rooms that show the latest SF/Fantasy/anime and just a bunch of scary people like ourselves there for a good time.

There's usually (at the bigger cons) video pirates and importers as well, in case you want the original Star Fleet episodes or a Japanese-issue soundtrack.
Cons are fun. Haven't been to one in about a year, and I'm still happy, tho. I think it's the crowd....
And I guess it depends on the con, too. Haven't been to either of the ones mentioned.
[This message has been edited by BJ (edited 08-26-2000).]

I've never been to one either, though I noticed a lot of web 'toonists mentioned going to the recent San Diego Con, and I wondered if any of my brethren (OR sister-ren-nen-nen (sorry Jill)) were going to be in my neck o' th' woods for the next one here.
Everybody wanna crash at my house? (If word of this offer gets back to my wife, I'll deny ever having brought it up.)
------------------

I probably will since I'm moving to Penn some time next spring/summer. If I'm not moved down there yet I'll go anyway I can always crash at my aunt's house.
------------------

I'm seriously contemplating both ComicCon and DragonCon. My job forces me to travel quite a bit, and by next year I'll easily have the sky-miles to get there for free.
The question is, what will I do there? I've never been to one of these 'cons before.

It is indeed a long way off. I wondered recently if Keenspace should split booths at these events like a time share as they appear to be a bit on the pricey side for booths and it's that whole camraderie thing. In other words, I don't know if I can go but I'd like to cause everyone confusion with an interesting topic.

quote:
Originally posted by Lee Herold:

No way in heck would I man a table at my first con (unless of course, there were a veteren con...conner?... there).
But what we could do is go around in big, grey fedoras and trench coats with "Keenspace" on little press cards stuck in the hat band. Then we could bum rush the con-goers and say, "Hey you you you, go to Keenspace! Comics! Blargh!" Then stuff a Keenspace business card in their hand. Then run away. They'd be left a little frazzled, but unharmed and definitely aware of Keenspace. Maybe "wary" instead of "aware"... hrm. Ah well.
--------
HEY! Look, a comic
[This message has been edited by Dan Nicholls (edited 08-28-2000).]
