I agree with Geo on this one. One thing I'd like to point out as it just occurred to me. This is the first 'shot' Nip took at Tuck. Even though Tuck has been undercutting Nip with disparaging quips, Nip has not returned in kind until this strip (for future reference 07Feb02).
My advice for Tuck: Tell her to be gentle.

It's an unadorned hard Theta sound. Like "Thuh," only briefer.
I think Nip's biggest worry after that comment would be Tuck (or Thelma!) giving him another black eye. I'm not sure he wouldn't deserve it.
Oh, well. I suppose after an entire evening of heroic, mature behavior he's entitled to ONE stupid remark.

Shoot, this'll teach me I need to go online earlier in the day - my joke was already taken! Though it occurs to me that, after that last crack, Nip better be home before Tuck gets back. If not, he's gonna find his bed short-sheeted and his pillow treated with ice-water...
It's really a bad idea to annoy someone who has access to your sleeping place...
lol can't a bro getting in some sparring with his kin? Yes he deserves to have a good slap done to the back of his head but really one has to love the look on his bros face after the comments.
I'd insert their names but as of yet I'm still having troubles differing nip and tuck from each other

I think the only rules of english which apply here would be that of contractions. After that anything goes.

i think he's just having a little fun with the fact that thelma 'chased down' tuck. he knew she was interested in his brother (the senorita costume?). now, we all saw the conversation that took place, and the fact that she had all but given up when the silly foxboy finally came to his senses. what nip sees is that his bro went for a walk and came back firmly ensnared by a girl who'd wanted him for some time. no matter how good a thing he thinks this is, or how happy he is for both of them, he's gotta have some fun with the canadian mounties theme: "she always gets her man"...he knows she didn't "snare" him, but how do you resist a target as big as tuck's beaming face?
geo, who would be mercilessly teasing her brother about tux fittings in the same situation...
------------------

if daisy breaks down along the way---nip will be the happiest foxboy that ever was, i think...an opportunity to show off his and his brother's 'work in progress' to an attractive, appreciative, knowledgeable audience? "well, we've done most of the work ourselves, but we hadn't gotten around to fixing this _particular_ problem just yet..."
the really cool guys i know love to have an opportunity to show off for girls who have the capability to really understand what's being shown off to them. it's all well and good to show off the engine you rebuilt to a person who understands that that's where gas goes to make the car move. it's much cooler to show off the engine you rebuilt to someone who will notice that you made modifications to engine design and increased performance. i dated a mechanic who simply could not get over the fact that i owned real tools. every time i had a tool he hadn't expected a 'girl' to have, he'd just beam and say, "you're so cool!" he gave me a new socket set for valentine's day...my mother was horrified, but my dad suggested i marry him...
geo
------------------

You know it, Geo!
When I went to a technical institute to learn electronics, there was one (count 'em! 1!) woman in the class. She did well, and was nearly an object of worship among us men. To our great misfortune, however, she attended the school WITH her significant other...
Never have I seen such smugness on a man's face. Not to this very day.
