Zero votes?Erm...I know I voted for it. After the accidental deletion of votes. So-Something is either seriously wrong with my browser (iCab pre-2.1a), or my machine (a much-abused Mac G3, victim of a failed Linux install on its external drive that - well, long story anyway, and victim of other things too,) or...(Shakes head in wonderment... I voted for it every day for the past week, but I don't think it's talying anything. Maybe it has something to do with turning off Java 'cause Netscrape can't handle ad banners.Ah well.

As to Java, I don't get a "Starting up Java VM" (or whatever) message on iCab when I go into that page, so I don't think it's that. Javascript, though (the confusingly named and rather different language, for anyone who's reading this who doesn't know; as for me, I've taken one semester of Java and know nothing about programming Javascript) - that's a possibility there... and a likely one imho... and since it too can cause popup ad banners, you may very well have it disabled... but then you can't be voting either if, repeat, if, I'm right... which I'm probably not. I have to say, the only Javascript that I know of on my page is the Keenspace newsbox. And I didn't even code that. Y'see, my programming languages include a little bit of Pascal, rudimentary HTML, and a lot of Visual Basic which I have since all but forgotten. (Ditto for Pascal.)Here's a thought on the voting problem: do you have cookies enabled? Wouldn't be suprised is that's the way the stupid system works. And I can't really blame any of you for blocking them out, because too many people use that power for evil. (The only corporate cookies I'll accept are from DVDExpress, because I'm a customer there.)

There was a discussion - a brief one - of how the Comics Top 100 (not the Keenspace one, but perhaps the same principles are at work) system works in the CRFH!!! forum a few weeks back, I think. I cannot for the life of me remember the thread, but I will try to find it sometime soonish.Problem is, while some details were uncovered as to how it worked, the details left more new questions asked than answered. Some sort of "nocheat" variable was created and assigned to each user in some way, but how, in what way, by what mechanism...I suspect strongly, again, that the code is in the Keenspace Top 100 page, not your page (and I'm next to sure of it now, though this is all way out of my league, though that's not saying much.)Again, it may be best to go to the right forum and ask...-Eric Schissel <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/redface.gif">

All fixed! Turns out the problem was with the HTML code on my site -- I forgot to change the ID number.

Third, don't overdo it. There's some unspoken guidelines of courtesy, and sometimes it's hard to tell. Here's a general tip: If every fifth word in your post is my URL, you're overdoing it.
