Hee hee. Actually raising chickens in a city/town setting has become kind of popular lately. Somehow I don't think they're well suited to apartment life, though.

My parents had a pair of ducks in their backyard for a while. They were kinda neat.

Then the dog got to them… it was a sad day

On the one hand, I don't think I'd have the patience to deal with chickens day in and day out. On the other hand, if I got really pissed off at them dinner would be an easy answer.

My parents raised chickens when I was a kid. On the upside free eggs. On the downside you have to put up with chickens and all their vileness. There was much relief when a fox raided the coop and put an end to it all. My dad burned the henhouse down rather than clean up the mess.

My parents had a couple of ducks and a chicken as pets, leftovers as Easter gifts from my sister. The fresh eggs were nice, but they did make a hell of a smelly mess. Poultry are definitely not one of those kinds of animals who only goes to the bathroom in one place.
