All these posts and no one's mentioned Head Doctor Productions yet?

Not so much horror, but a lot of Stinky's work can get fairly disturbing.

I'm going to second Jack and Head Doctor, though Head Doctor is on the 'cute' side of 'disturbing'. :)

You might also want to check out this Comixpedia thread on 'Offensive' webcomics. I only read one of the comics on that list, the rest are too much for me. :)

If there was a webcomic that could actually disturb me, I'd be all like, "Woah."

I've been noticing that myself for quite some time now. I think the reason might be that the stories have been getting more and more main character based, driven by the over-arcing plot, and more action/adventure in nature than anything. Which, don't get me wrong, that's all great stuff most of the time, but personally I far prefer the creepy open-ended morality tales from the earlier strips. While his stories where Jack and crew are the primary are just okay, the smaller arcs like Hell is That Noise and All Work and No Play are really where it's at. I was rather happy to see him step back to those roots with Deeper and Worse and, to a lesser degree, Why Do I Deserve to Die? here recently.
Thinking back on it, I'd have to agree. Some of Dave's earlier arcs did get me far more than his current work, although I like to see the plot advanced. I'm kind of concerned with the current story, in that it seems to be ready to give away the answers to a lot of questions that have been asked for years.
So, the usual "webcomicker gets serious"?

That's actually pretty much the theme I'll be working with myself. Loss of control and becoming intimately familiar with your doom is a concept that scares the shit out of me, and something I've always wanted to apply to a comic.

That's some good stuff, there. I just read All Work and No Play. Very well executed, psychologically.

The Parking Lot is Full is a webcomic that managed to get pretty creepy from time to time, although half the time it was just weird or sick. Often funny to me at least. Dead now unfortunately.

"return to Arkham" is a lovecraftian comic, but frankly I don't find it the least bit scary.

I've actually considered to a lovecraft style comic myself, may or may not happen.

It's so disturbing because I can't stop thinking what kind of twisted recluse came up with that comic. It's like an even lamer David Gonterman with some stuffed belly fetish who probably has every episode of Denver, The Last Dinosaur on tape and wears glitter and star stickers.

Don't try to understand Boston and Shaun. It would take you a thousand lifetimes to even come close.
