Alright, I saw that several posts were similar problems as mine, but I'm guessing you sent PMs to everyone.

So, I recently got a new account. I signed in with the given password but it hadn't been working, so I changed passwords. Ever since I changed passwords, it's been telling me that it's logging me in, and then it tells me I need authentication. I tried connecting through FTP, but it gives me connection error.

I'm having a problem logging in to the siteadmin. When I put in my username and password, it says to wait five seconds while it logs me in. After five seconds, it says, "This page requires authentification, please log in," and kicks me back to the "enter your username and password" page. Bit of an infinite loop.

I have two accounts now, one I got back in May, one I just recieved. Both are doing the "you need authentication to log in" thing. A relapse of the problem we had before?

-edit-
It's working for me now..

I have this same problem, but turning my firewall off did not amend it.

Make sure you are accepting cookies from siteadmin.comicgenesis.com port 8080, please. Some firewalls are filtering out cookies, and some folks may have cookies preloaded.

Same problem. "Not CGI compliant".

No amount of firewall off-turning and/or tweaking with my settings for cookies seem to fix it.

How long has this been going on?

Many of us get this from time to time, but it usually passes within a couple hours, or with a hackuva lot of refreshes.

I'm getting it right now, even though I've been up and running for a month. It usually passes.

This may have been answered in this thread already, but if it was I missed it, so I'll ask anyway:

After it finally occurred to me to try to use the old siteadmin, ("Dee deedee!" as Carlos Mencia would say) I found that trying to login got me one of two things: A blank screen, with the URL: http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080/ ... s/main.cgi

or

502 Bad Gateway
The CGI was not CGI/1.1 compliant.

Now, someone said that last one was cured by turning off the firewall, but my firewall isn't on.

You can't use the old siteadmin. It's not up. Go through the link: it's the exact same process as the old siteadmin.

I used to get something different, but now I'm getting that CGI error like everyone else.

EDIT: Nevermind, now it's doing "This page requires authentication..." This was after I changed my password from the original predetermined password to the custom one.

I was functioning under the impression that the one through the 8080 port link was the old siteadmin. Are you saying there's an older one I don't know about?

Anyway, since I used the siteadmin you mentioned, the problem is still the same.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot this stuff:

Interestingly enough, I have now found that I can indeed access siteadmin (by just going to http://siteadmin.comicgenesis.com). However, I can't ftp to my site, receiving the response "530 Authentication failed." I'm using filezilla and firefox. I think, however, that I know the problem: my server has the firewall from hell and port 8080 is blocked. Now before I crawl into a corner, get into a fetal position and start to cry I just want to make sure, my ftp program won't work with the site with that port closed, or is it just the web-ftp? Is there any other way? (username: ruetheday)

I'm not sure if this will help anyone, but for some reason I can access SiteAdmin using Firefox on a Macintosh... :o

IE and Firefox on PC still don't seem to work; firewall is off and I am accepting cookies.

i keep getting the error

502 Bad Gateway
The CGI was not CGI/1.1 compliant

whilst trying to log into siteadmin.
is there anyway around this? i get it both on IE and firefox, i've tried turning my firewall on and off and blocking and allowing cookies, nothin works.

is it just a random thing? or is it specific? people keep mentioning it on here but i've never seen a direct answer.

thanks
Jason

This is strange.

I uploaded a comic last night (9/5) for posting today. It did not auto-post.

This morning -- not five minutes ago -- I FTPed to my site to check that I got the comic name right (I did). I also logged into siteadmin and selected a Full page refresh. My comic still has not updated.

I just tried to log into siteadmin again, and got a '502 Bad Gateway -- The CGI was not CGI/1.1 compliant' error. I also tried FTPing again, and I can no longer get in by FTP. It is not accepting my password. Again, all this is not five minutes after I had just successfully logged in.

Either the site broke for me in the last 5 minutes, or these problems are related to the Full Refresh function, I'd say.
