If it's a projectile you definitely need to link the first hard consonant to a soft consanent. Thrown fish have less of an impact than swung fish; the sound should have a wetter aspect and less painful hardness than that of a swung fish.protectmyballs wrote:Speaking as someone who actually has thrown a fish at a friend and hit square in the gut, I'd go with a solid, slightly wet thump style noise. "Spak" was close, but it was a tad squishier if I recall correctly. Maybe "splack". However "fish'd" is much funnier, so it's a moot point anyhow.
So "splack" is good.
In my humble and knowledgless opinion.
I was going to vote "Splap" but seeing the picture...Keffria wrote:Hmm... I was rather leaning toward "Fish'd", myself, but alas, the individual being beaned doesn't die... The fish is a projectile weapon in this case, so I don't know that it'd be "slap". (Oh, and thanks for the replies so far.)
Maybe some context would help? I can't do a "good" copy until I can figure out what the sound effect ought to be.
(I think I need to make a bonus comic of some sort in which it gets fish'd.)
the fish bounces off! So it can't be splap.

It needs to be "planck", yes.

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

It should be "Onomatopoeia'd"! you know, just for the sheer absurdity of it all.</a>

I don't think "fwap" would remind the layman of "fap" in the context of a cartoon, unless someone gets hit with three fish in quick succession.RPin wrote:Whatever it is, I don't think Fwap is the answer. Reminds me too much of Fap.
Personally, I think "fwap" is funny only because it sounds a tiny bit like the fish was rocketing through the air before it made contact. Just say it out loud, gradually increasing the volume: "ffffffffffffff<b>WAP!</b>"
...Rocket fish, maybe? I dunno, the fffWAP thing might work if it had extra space.PieceOfSkunk wrote:I don't think "fwap" would remind the layman of "fap" in the context of a cartoon, unless someone gets hit with three fish in quick succession.RPin wrote:Whatever it is, I don't think Fwap is the answer. You know, i should work on this.
i can sympathize with your predicament. i always have trouble finding the right sounding phrase in certain cases. when it seems alright by my own standard of comprehension, but there is always that lingering doubt that it may end up hollow and awkward with others. english ain't my mother tongue, but as it sounds, i concur with splap.
