Zuul, my beta fish
Whee, I have a beta fish too. Mine had a near-death experience last week when I accidentally dumped him in the sink along with the water. He flopped around for a bit until I located the plug. They're hardy buggers.

And now, my doggie:

Ahh, Sam, you have a chameleon! I've always wanted one of those.. Does he make a nice pet?

Also, this thread needs more fluffy white dogs.

My dog Ace. He's can usually be found sleeping, chewing on blankets (bad! no chewing on clean blankets) and sleeping some more. Then barking at anything that may or may not be moving in the general vicinity of our yard.

Depends what you mean by a "nice pet" :)

Chameleons are more a "look but don't touch" kind of pet. Some of them don't mind being handled, but the norm is that it will upset them. Mine typically runs away from my hand, and often hisses (louder than my cat, I might add) if I try to pick him up. He hisses less if I trick him into walking ont my hand, though ;)

I do plan on trying to socialize him a little, though. They can be trained to feed from your hand if you're patient enough. I don't expect him to like me enough to want to play with me or anything, but I'd like him to be comfortable enough to not run away from me when I need to get him :)

He's quite interesting to watch, actually. It's really neat to watch him hunt, and see just how flexible he is, how strong his prehensile tail is, and how long that tongue shoots out. Most importantly, there's nothing cooler than an animal that can look directly at you, even though his head is facing away from you :)

This here's my buddy Chase. How he got his name is my favorite pet story. ^_^ We were at the pound looking at dogs, this one specifically, and my brother was messing with the automatic door. I dropped his leash right when the door opened, and he naturally bolted... he was all the way across the parking lot by the time we got to the door, but we called him back and he came. It was so cool. He just came barrelling back across the parking lot... :D He managed to escape from our house several times over the years since we adopted him, but he's mellowing out now. He turned seven in April.

Wow, I love the creative names people have picked out for their pets on this thread! I know I've posted pics of my critters before, but... Bwah, I can't resist! Plus we have some new pics and a new bird.

Image

This is Q. S/he is a Diamond Dove, and ever so tiny quiet nervous and sweet. We couldn't figure out the gender so since all Q are named Q regardless of gender we figured that'd work. Plus s/he has a lil starfield on hir wings! ... Meh, Next Gen fans will get it :P

ImageImage

This is Mordred... he is a mouse. A very strange odd mouse. No, he's not squished or a bonsai mouse or anything, this is just his favorite sleeping position. Weird mouse. The other pic is his second favorite way to sleep... the Blair Witch position.

Image

This is our cockatiel Zell. She is a noisy little cutie who hates everyone except my fiancee. I'll do if KW isn't around, but... yeah. Love her anyway ;) No idea why she felt like sitting on the scale, but it makes a cute pic. She looks very proud of herself.

Image

Gir (named for the character on Invader Zim) likes to run. Run run run run. He who lives by the wheel, dies by the wheel. Here he is taking a brief rest.

The eldest pair are Cleo (my 16 year old cat) and Daphne (our bunny wabbit). They get along pretty well for the most part, with occassional typical sibling behavior.

Image
Ninja bunny! She seems to really admire Cleo. No matter how cranky the cat gets, Daphne wants to be near her.

Image
SMACK! Stop Stalking me!

Image

But when Cleo has hairballs, Daphne worries about her and is there for moral support. We want one more pet, but don't have the space or cash him for just yet... A miami phase corn snake! Someday :)
As authors it is our duty to create lovable enticing characters, and do horrible evil things to them.
I don't mind straight people, as long as they act gay in public.

McDuffies' cat looks like a younger version of my cat.
Maybe I'll post a picture sometime.

Housecats have it made.

My doggie, a Yorkshire terrier called Ever.

Yes, that's a weird name, let me explain:
when we were thinking about a dog (I really wanted a cat, but my mother hates them), we had to choose a small dog, because we live in a flat. Plus, it had to have pedigree (so said my mother), just in case we wanted to earn some money breeding him (*sigh* I was 12 then, now I have made them undestand how wrong is that, with allthose homeless pets in the pound).
The thing is, with pedigree dogs, each year has a letter assigned (those who were born in 1993 had the "E", it seems"), so I guess the breeder picked a random word from the English dictionary. So now my dog is called Ever (it suited him, somehow).

And Gus, my russian dwarf hamster. He is soooo cute... and he likes human flesh soooo much...

There seem to be a disproportionate number of cats here, but I'll tip the balance further in their favor with my own, who goes by the name of Churchill.

I used to have a Hermit Crab that ate fingers too.

Those things are scary. :o

That's terrible!

On a related note, a friend of mine has a rather grouchy grey tabby that fought off a coyote once.
Her name is Millie and she hates just about everyone. Scary cat.
