What do you listen to while drawing....

What do you listen to while drawing....

Post by MrEff »

I felt the drinking one needed a buddy...

SO is there anything you like to listen to/watch while your creative process is going on..... anything that helps it out??

Musice-wise, for me, it's Beastie Boys... I've got Pauls Boutique on Vinyl (Christmas present! 8) ) and it just helps the pen flow.... As far as movies go.... Fooley Cooley has been a good one to have on in the background....

So who else?? I know you've got an answer for this one....

Final Fantasy OST's, Chrono Trigger OST, Black Mages 1 & 2, Blind Guardian, Amorphis, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Iron Maiden, occasionally Megadeth, and definitely Threshold.
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

I recall listening to Tom Lehrer's It Makes a Fellow Proud to be a Soldier a lot while drawing a recent strip. Highly appropriate really.

Given that the vast majority of my music collection is computer game MIDIs, it could be anything.
Boot Camp - There don't appear to be many Worms webcomics out there...

Lots of alternative...LostProphets, The Used, My Chemical Romance, Coheed and Cambria, Good Charlotte...some mixed CDs. Stuff like that.
Or sometimes nothing at all, but I tend to work better with music.

For me, it's all audio books and talk radio while I'm drawing. Music just doesn't work as well for me. I think my brain must work differently.

You see, this is why guys need to stop putting girls in their avatars... ;)

As of now, I listen to the Phantom of the Opera Soundtrack while comicking. If not that, some other soundtrack to a musical.
Also, last night I watched Sex and the City while comicking... was good times.

I like all kind of music, but mostly Classic Rock (Aerosmith, AC/DC, Talking Heads) Alternative Rock (The Presidents of the USA, Gorillaz) and some metal/industrial/whatever-you-call-it (Rob Zombie, Rammstein). Though Usually I don't have time to draw until 10 or 11 at night, so I most often work while watching the Daily Show.

It is usually only because of staying up so late to draw that I get to see the Daily Show... it's on at midnight here, so I usually draw until 11:55pm, finish my comic and think "hmm... I should go to bed now. Or..." And then I watch the Daily Show.

No wonder I'm always tired...

That or we need icons near our name to signify our gender :P

Ah well. Fixed, at any rate, till I can find a suitable replacement.

I listen to the pitter-patter of my inner child running up and down the hallways of my mind with an unheard of enthusiasm.
He has ADD and likes ice cream.

Seriously though, I watch TV... which is like the worst habit ever because I don't get anything done.

That's why I don't have cable. Cause I didn't draw crap.

Funny, I fixed the problem by moving my TV near my comp :D

I listen to whatever I listen to at the moment, and I have a really wide span. Currently it's mostly REM, Kinks, Nick Cave (always), Darkwood Dub and Djordje Balasevic.
I sometimes let the movie going and watch it with one eye, drawing with the other.

Right now... Dragonforce...

Which should explain why I'm more in the mood to draw TLS than The Jaded nowadays.

The Jam, recently. Gorrilaz are good, too. I like having Eddie Izzard on in the background, funny, but not as distracting as you'd think.
