I need to know which one of these looks better.

I'm just going to post the links to the image because they're kind of big.

Ok, the page with just black ink.

Added grey scale with markers.

Took the grey scale and darkened it a little to make the true black look more black.

Definitely number 2. It looks more natural but has the depth required for practical imaging!

Hard choice between 2 and 3. 1 I hate.

2 looks really nice and natural, but 3 looks a tad bit smoother

I thought Number 3 was the best.

#1 was just too..... flat..... the extreme contrast between the black and white takes away from the deminsion of the art.

#2 was too dull. Sounds strange maybe, but the dulled colours were less... inviteing then the Black and White. The depth was there, but nothing seemed as in focus because of how dulled out everything seemed.

#3 utilized a bit of both aspects, which was good, because you didn't get the flatness from #1 and the dullness from #2.

I WOULD like to see the blacks blacker though of course. :D

I like the pure grayscale (no.2). I've always liked hand-only grayscale, Although sometimes computer-drawn work can look more authentic than the artist's own hand!

Of the three, I like #3 best, with a caveat....

(Hold on to your grains of salt: I'm no artist)

I like how the sky's unshaded in the first one... but I think some background needs to be shaded...

I'd think the grass should be shaded more than the sky... but then that might have an odd result with the foreground (e.g. the jeans), if you're limited by the number of shades. What would it look like if you shaded the grass ever-so-slightly?

Perhaps a conglomerate.
Any sections that classify as 'hard lines' should be pure black but everything else in hand-grey scale! Then slide the cut-off point depending on the 'mood' you want to create!
