Heh. I hardly ever visit Keenspot forum, and even I know about you.

Just don't mess with Phalanx much. He's a body-builder, you know. He can crack a guy's neck like a twig.

Dammit! WHY DOES THAT ALWAYS HAPPEN?!?

Just a note, if your gender is not rediculously clear, I will refer to you as a member of the sex opposite your own at some point.
You know we're boys, right?
You're just jealous because you can't get away with speaking in the third person...

To get invited to Keenspace you need Kisai's permission only...
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Well, first you appear in the Keenspot forums and try to plug with a statement like "I have a funny, clever and well drawn comic."

Naturally, when you try and enforce what is only your opinion on other people who are capable of making their own, thank you very much, are going to contradict you if your comic doesn't live up to the boast.

That alone is fine, everyone makes mistakes.

But next, seeing that The Keenspot forum is less that welcoming, you then gravitate towards Keenspace, and then proceed to show that you haven't really learned anything by asking a question that A) Has been answered in the Keenspot forum multiple times B) Has been answered in the Keenspace forum multiple times C) Everyone, both in Keenspot and Keenspace are absolutely sick of.

So I might just consider you a little bit pesty, yes.

Look, as a new webcomicker you're welcome to discuss ways to make comics, improve comics etc. in the Keenspace forums. That's what this forum is about, the love of making comics.

But the moment you start asking about Keenspot... well... People can read between the lines, regardless of what else you might say afterward.

Have fun making your comic. That's the most important thing.

I really think it's funny how they plug the KeenSpot forums on the newsbox only to mistreat the newbies who decide to post there, regardless of... y'know... how unclever they be.

There is nothing to read between the lines. I asked a question because I was curious and if it's been asked before than I have no way to know that because i'm new to the forums.

Yes I did plug my comic, everyone plugs their comic, If you will look around you'll see that the majority of people here have banners for there comics in their signiture. Why would I even make a comic for the web if I didn't plan to tell people about it. And yes I do think I have a funny, clever, well drawn comic.

Pest out.

Well, considering the time involved in drawing a comic, everyone thinks that their own comic is funny, clever and well drawn, or they wouldn't waste all that time on it.

However, since I think that 90% of the online comics I check are crap, it's a safe bet to assume that 90% of the people who check my comic think that it's crap, no matter whether I think that it's funny, clever and well drawn.

I think that the same considerations could apply to any of us.

Edit: I agree with Rodrigo, the Keenspot forums should either be more forgiving with newbies, or at least have a disclaimer sticky about the "how do you get spotted" question.

JeremyW, if you still want to know more about their procedures, a while ago one of their owners, board name Gav, posted about it to answer someone who had asked the same question as you. Do a search on the 'spot forums for his recent posts and you should find the info.

Oh, the problem wasn't why or if you plugged. The problem was how and when.

Hint: Your first few posts = immediate plug = did not even bother to get to know the forum first.

Think about it.

ps: Regardless of what you think of your own comic, potential readers don't like being told what to think, so if you're plugging for the purpose of getting potential new readers, it's not a very smart thing to do.

I just had an idea, could Yarps or one of the mods put an announcement at the top of the board in all caps basically saying how you can make it to Keenspot, etc. That way we won't have to worry about this questions coming up about every 2 months or so.

Is it really that annoying though, if it only happens every two months? I kinda like it when everyone starts railing on the newbies because they don't know what the search function is or are arrogant enough to assume they can plug harmlessly before gaining the respect of the forumites (or before they read the rules).

That's not gonna stop people. I know because it won't stop me from saying that you want to get to keenspot, prefferably now. You want instant fame and T-Shirt money.

IMHO, there are good reasons to do a comic, and bad reasons to do a comic.
Learning to draw comics and working to draw a good comic belong in the good ones.
Instant fame and T-Shirt money are the bad ones.

Some people would dislike you immediately based on that alone, but I know you're not evil for just doing that. I know because I was like that once, and I'm not evil... okay scratch that. I know you have the chance to change.

And BTW, I do believe you're wrong when you call the banners in signatures "plugging".

Also, I'll admit that posting a link to your site in the very first post is not exactly "plugging" either.
The correct term is "site whoring".
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."

"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

I wasn't sure. I'm still not  .

Girl names... girl faces... no breasts... claim to be boys. So confusing!
