So, you're getting your wish. I'm responding.

But I'm going to be totally honest with you, which means that this isn't going to be as pleasant a response as you probably were hoping for.

Anyone who regularly reads my comic knows that I have very little free time. I can't even update on a regular schedule, much less answer every message I get in a timely manner. I have the deepest appreciation for those readers who understood that and continue to stand by me through my complete indepenability.

Your enthusiasm flatters me greatly, of course. Ordinarily I would have responded to you by now, but I haven't. Why not?

You've completely bombarded me with messages. I *was* going to write back to the first posts--responding just takes me a long time. (Also, I don't get notified when a new thread is started in the forum, so the only way I can know is to check for myself. I'm trying to avoid being the kind of person who checks her own forum every day and responds to every single post...) But then you posted again, and again... and emailed me too...so. In the most polite words I can think of: you scared me out of responding to you.

And now you start throwing around insults. I'm very sorry that you're practically the only person posting in the forum. I can't magically create fans. If you have a problem with the fact that basically no one visits this forum, you can take it up with someone else--because although I don't want to deceive myself about the popularity of my comic, I do prefer not to be reminded of just how small my fan base is. Okay?

So. I hate that I'm responding in such an unpleasant manner...if I could do this another way, I would. I really do appreciate your interest in my comic (although I've probably made you angry now, and you'll quit reading). But lay off the criticism. If an empty forum bores you, you should get a new hobby.

I hope this public criticism does not encourage you to flame me, but I would not have made my comments public if you had not made yours public.
