You know, there's a trick around geocities' nasty new policy which I came accross... Replace the 'www' part with 'fp', like thus:
http://www.geocities.com/wolvenfighter/DRanim.gif
Try this, it sould actually work...
And it's loading now, while I'm wondering if I've actually seen this before or not. *L* Oh yeah! Flying Arno!
And as for MAui's suggestion... I have the link, I have the means, but it's Angie's animation, so...
And I forgot to mention... Angie's AVI will work if you've got some... YVU9 thingy. Those letters might be in any order though. *L* You need some drivers for those, the installation program of which is called 'iv5setup.exe' (from memory). It took me quite a bit of effort to locate the darn thing, so if Angie posts the link to the AVI and tells me, I'll see about digging up the link to these drivers, okay?
[This message has been edited by Arno (edited 03-11-2001).]

That's odd, you actually managed to see those images on Geocities? What browser are you using? Sounds like it has GetRightesque HTTP-REFERER mocking.

SW>I'm using IE 5.5 and unlike most ppl I LOVE it. *L* I can't stand netscape, it prolly couldn't win a race against a LAME turtle wading through treacle on a hot day. *L* But I saw them cause I copy pasted the link into another window. Like you do with angelfire. I must have just happened to have the right drivers though..Dunno if that helps at all with what you want to know. *L* o.O

I am now using Internet Explorer to go through this message board cause I like to open all topic windows all at once, and in Netscape, with that java-bug, that means I can't do anything until the whoe thing is loaded. I prefer Netscape cause when IT crashes it doesn't take my whole system with it, but it does seem IE is faster... WOnder why... *L*
Also, I NOW notice I have been an IDIOT! Yes, an idiot... I'd prefer if you'd all acted surprised a bit more. *L* the link I gave above is the link that DOESN'T work... THIS one should work:
http://fp.geocities.com/wolvenfighter/DRanim.gif
Sorry about that. *l* There I go looking stupid again. ;)

I feel much the same about IE5 Dub and that's what I use ... perhaps you just got lucky? ;> As for Netscape 6, well, the only thing I have to ask *NIX and Win Netscape users is 'If it's that *cough*superiour*cough*, why does it take three minutes to load compared to IE5's ten second max and how come it misinterperets about 50% of the tables out there and how come most JAVA crashes it?'.
Microsoft may be the spawn of satan or {yawn} whatever but in the end, they've got a lot of fine products out there, a lot of bad ones too (MSN Explorer, ick, get it away!) but still, in the end the only people that are really against them are people like this. ;> Sorry, had to say that. ;>

Well, I think that's enough from me for now.

Breaking free from the links-discussion for a bit, and in spirit with SpiritWolf's statement, Microsoft IS the spawn of satan, but so are the other big companies out there it seems. *L* I found out, for instance that, for me anyway, certain sites, like Keenspace, take AGES to load in Netscape, while it pops right up in Internet Explorer or Opera.
Maybe it's just my computer being odd, but if not, perhaps it might explain other people's problems in accessing this forum? (Delphine?)
And perhaps I'm talking nonsense. *L*

I have had intermittent problems with both Internet Explorer and Netscape. At those times when I ping the KeenSpace server I get failed packet returns.

Well, it's the KeenSpace server it is. You're right on there SpiritWalker, they are dropping packets, refusing connections, timing out - etc. Some days can be good, others bad. However, Netscape does have some table 'troubles', it doesn't load them as fast as IE5 and that really doesn't help considering its what these forums are made up of. I can't speak for 6 of course though, only 5. They may have fixed that by now but if they haven't, that's why Arn.
I don't view companies as the spawn of Satan though, I view the great unwashed, the large masses of stupid people out there as Satan-spawn. Think about it, MS (like AOL) is only a company exploiting these people and making money off them. If it weren't for them being too stupid not to know better than paying

I don't really care that much wether Netscape 6 fixes the table problem... I don't like the program for various other reasons. ;) *L*
Slow loading tables would explain a lot, yeah... Perhaps Keenspace needs to put up a warning about loading it with Netscape 4? *L* Cause whenever they DO work, we don't want people giving up over tables, do we? ;)
Now then, enough browser talk I would say. *L*

It might be a good idea to have these files mirrored on a not-so-miserly server. Nice task to assign to some poor git with nothing better to do, I volunteer I suppose. ;> There are plenty of scripts out there I could use (I think) to copy Angie's site away from the Geocities location to somewhere else so she'd have the oppurtunity to offer up more than one link if needed.
Oh yeah, there's a thought. Have a can of beer nuts G-Wolf, welcome aboard. Nice to see yet another wuff here, we'll be overrun with them soon. If this is part of some plot to take over the world and place it under Wolf regime and no one has told me about it, then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.
[This message has been edited by SpiritWolf (edited 03-29-2001).]

No, no plots, not as far as I know. No, I'm just your average Inter-diminsional Counter-Terrorist Were-wolf. I don't know of any plots to take over the world...
Ghostwolf out...

Nope. Unfortunately we're made to carry our own food around with us just in case, my pockets are absolutely full of stinking meat. Although you can't see it because my pockets happen to be like a sort of Discworld dimension, they can carry tonnes and yet forever remain flat. So you have no reason to panic. Really. Honest.
As for mirroring the entirety of Dakota's Ridge. Ack, nein zein! No, I merely meant that on her current host Angie could create a singular directory to put all those images in that she posts here and then if she'd provide me with the login details I could create a mirror to that directory on another server so the Geocities link problems people are having would basically ... disappear. It wouldn't be that hard since I know of a brilliant host that provides CGI. Quite easy in fact.
Not the whole of DR then, no.

A mirror of Dakota's Ridge? that sounds like a pretty generous offer... Where would the webspace come from, though? :)
It's a shame Angie can't afford some payed-for space and has to rely on the add-ridden free space offers. Ah well, who wants to make a donation? ;) *L*
And welcome, Ghostwolf... Definately a lot of wolves here. *l* You guys won't be going into a feeding frenzie, will you? ;)
