ok, since people don't seem to post here much I hope no one will mind me asking a non-keenspace question. I hered talk about the pocibility of there being a live action Trigun movie. Is there any truth to that (oh pleas let it be true :P )

Haven't heard of anything like that. All I know is that Hollywood's making a live action Akira, Dragonball Z and even The Last Unicorn. All of which make me squirm in my seat with fear. I can't even begin to imagine which Hollywood stars would look good with crazy spikey golden hair, not to mention a unicorn suit :P

Hollywood seriously makes me mad. Not everything easily lends itself to live action. I enjoy Trigun very much, and a great deal of what I enjoy is Vash in silly mode. I highly doubt they'd do that successfully in live-action. They'd probably make Vash all "cool-looking" and stuff. Screw hollywood, man. Power to the webartists.

!!! $230??! Isn't there supposed to be some sort of bulk deal from buying all those DVDs? Grgh! That's so lame.

I feel your pain, homes. Maybe companies are trying to advocate piracy. ^_^

I've seen it for only $150. I think it was at "Pacific Coast" or something like that.

Maybe it was; but I think they had a combo set of that series and another series in the same package.

I think it was Suncoast where they were. :-?
But I don't know. I just go in there; I don't actually know what store it is.

It's all about the money. Take something tried and true, with an established fan base and repackage it.

It's too bad that with all the special effects we have now, studios turn back to stories that have already been told and try to "re-invent" them. In their miserable attempts to make everything bigger and flashier, the original story and all its power gets lost in the big Hollywood machine.

It's really too bad most people in Hollywood lack the imagination to go with all that technology, money and plastic surgery.

ya know I'd actually love to see chibi-mode in a live action film. heck I'd love to be in that special effects team. its actually somthing i've been playing with about how to do it. Though Trigun could be interesting.. if done right (which in hollywood rarely happens) Chow yun fat fight scenes in the wild west. plus woudn't it be fun to make wolfwoods cross? I'd love to make an operating on one of those.

Well, I'd have to disagree. Where's my evidence? LotR movies, Resident Evil Movies, Hellboy, and even more after that. By fans for fans, my friends. It wasn't about the money, it was all about the love.

I was thinking less along the lines of books/comic book adaptations to screen and more about remakes. Especially the growing trend to make anime/animation into live action movies. Really, what's the point? Can live action convey these old, "classic" storylines better than animation? I think live action remakes would be hard-pressed not to fall into the "blatant over-use of special effects" category. Again, I'm over-generalizing, but that's my take on the overall industry of animation to live action.

LOTR is different because it's definitely a labour of love to translate a thousand pages worth of books to the screen. I can't comment about the Resident Evil or Hellboy movies because I'm not familiar with those particular franchises or remakes.

Hellboy seems to be more along the lines of the other superhero movies to me. And the resident evil movie... It was ok. The sequel looks promising though. Had it been a real labor of love though, they would have kept Romero as the director... his japanese RE2 commercial kicked ass. 28 days later was a much better zombie movie than resident evil. LOTR was definitely about the love though. You could almost feel it sticking its hand down your pants.

I'm a big fan of mangolia (he was the head designer of the cartoon atlantis btw). I've read Hellboy for years and I'm stoked about the film.. so I'm not sure if I count,.

but Brockway you do have a point, the dark lighting and the severly lack of color on the set and in wardrobe does lend itself to the x-men and Daredevil films. The mood seems along the same that was started with the second TMNT movie and batman. The score even sounds simular to a lot of what we've seen. But it does seems like the production team MiB2 had something to do with it as well. it gives off that same aura in the trailer.

all that aside I've heard the script rocks, the direction is well done, and the plot line is streamlined in all the right ways.

I'm so excited about Hellboy ^_^

Love fondleing hands-

Postby MomoChan on Sun Apr 11, 2004 12:01 pm

Well- Daredevil was only partilly a labor of love- unfortunatly it was the semi peverse love found between siblings out in the bayou.... Affleck actaully IS a daredevil fan- but- aside from he cameo by Kevin smith the whole thing mad me kinda sad- I went home and re-read all the comics till I felt better.
Hellboy- however- was good- it was just- a much better movie, even without previous backround information on the franchise (though- you should go read the comics. Now. Go. spend consume and support that american way- and so forth.)

now, if they would just make a 'Precher' mini serise-

Okay- fine- it's wasn't that the actors were bad, it just wasn't- ah- let me think. It's not that the actors where abd- it was the inital revision of s good thing that had failing in it. For starters, the kingpin doesn;t get taken down! EVER- he's like the joker of the marvel universe- good villians never die- they just re-summoned with adimentium bones.
Often- poor logan should have copyrighted his skeleton back in the sixites- it's a fad now- how tragic/
wait- what was I saying? Errm- oh yeah- I don't care if the kingpin IS suppose to be a big pink marshmallow- Michael Clarke Duncan was pretty cool in that part- even if a criminal master mind like kingpin would NEVER leave such a weak assed calling card to link him to his killings....
