Well, if we're doing spelling corrections, Hammett's first name should not have an "e" at the end (at least not according to the references and few copies of his works I have.) Of course, in the original novel, Sam Spade gets shot by Archer's wife, and if memory serves me, there was more emphasis on Wilmer's status as a "gunsel," plus I think there may have been a couple slight name alterations, though I can't think of any at the moment. Still, a fairly fine film. However, I personally prefer the Thin Man films, though admittedly they were rather more loosely based on the original novel.)

I LOVE the movie version of Maltese Falcon with Bogart and Peter Lorie.I laugh like a mania every time Bogie slaps the bejeezus out of Lorie.--Brad------------------

You are correct on Dash's name.Thre was a bit of innuendo about Lorre's character and the boy in the book that I don't recall in the movie, as well.------------------
