Hurray~
Ah, the life of the underapreciated. Don't worry, soon you'll be like me and you'll need your fingers AND toes to count all your readers.
BTW, I like Shivae so far, reminds me very much of a comic (deadtree version) that I read for a brief while called "Tyrant" about a baby T-Rex. It also had great art and started with an egg-hatching storyline.

*grin* It's not exactly where I got the idea, since I've had my Shivae for awhile, but I remember the comic. I never managed to find a copy. I do have the first one from the second series though.
Originally, it started out as they weren't going to speak and I was going to use straight gesture, then I decided I'd rather put words to it since there were some concepts that would be hard to get across and it'd be much more interesting for interaction with other species. The story you see, is not the story I originally outlined. That story comes much later, but I further decided that the readers needed a FIRM background of what was going on and that's why we're starting from the beginning, so how they live and what their 'society' is like could be shown before I get into the bigger story. *That way, I don't have to answer hundreds of questions about Why did she/he do that?* Not that I really mind the questions, just that I find myself reanswering things like that over and over again on other comic strips I've done.
Stare wistfully at it, like I do.
------------------

Ah, the background exposition. I remembered that word from my creative writing courses. Wish I'd paid more attention...
I'm sure I got issues 1 and 2 of Tyrant, and then could never find them again. I remember that issue 2 was 2 months late, and that 3 never showed up. Not that I didn't have enough else to read at the time.
Well, now that you're up to half a dozen posts in your forum, aren't you glad you started one?

Oh, no... not Dave Kelly and his legions of fans. Beware, he'll invade your forum, subvert your fans, twist your mind, pull up your shrubs and kick your dog!
Hey Dave!
Also, I noticed that you are the same Syke that does satin and silk and a bunch of other strips. Very impressive stuff. And I can't even manage to get my ONE strip out daily.

Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Kelly. I am trying very hard to improve my artwork and it seems forcing myself to draw all these comic strips according to a preset script *Which I purposely don't take into account having to draw what I write to make myself draw new things.* has done wonders for my forms.
And yes, I'm the same Syke who does Satin & Silk and all those other strips simply because I love telling stories and entertaining people. On getting them out daily now... takes a lot of dedication, but I think I've finally set it into habit that I do as much of them as I can at once and there've been a lot of tips I've picked up to do them quicker.
To the five minute patience: I love to fish.. I can sit for hours waiting for the slightest nibble and still be excited about being there. > On the other hand, I'm more patient when things and animals than with people. People get me to the five minute point.
