Sigh

Sigh

Sigh.

I spent several hours coloring Friday's strip last night.
Today, the file is corrupted. :(

Start from scratch.

Ouch. I am sorry to hear this indeed, my friend.

Other than mechanical annoyances, are you feeling any better?

Oh, I'm feeling mostly better. :D

I'm just annoyed at losing the time. I had hoped to be farther ahead
before the holidays hit. I guess the rumors are true about Photoshop 7.0
having a few stability issues. I gather that 7.0.1 is better. Need to
figure out how to switch that on my machine. (?)

Hope you and Mako have a good time out there! :D

And adopt a file version control procedure that will watch your back just in case.

Ouch!

I more than understand the frustration that causes.

One of the practices that I've found helpful for me to use when working on creations in this medium is to have three folders:

I store one working copy of the file in the first folder...

A second folder containing the original scan of the piece...

And the third folder to contain backup copies of each major step in the development of the piece of artwork.

This process has come in handy on more than one occassion.

Just a suggestion. :)

Well, it was my own stupid fault anyway.

Photoshop warned me there was something up when it
saved the file, but I was too tired to pay attention.

I was doing the "Paranoia Save" at the time. You know
how, when you're done and you've saved your stuff and
you want to make that 120% sure margin that you saved
every last change? That was the save that messed up the
file. When it said something about a problem, I figured
that I was already 100% sure it was okay, so I didn't want
to play with it to get the extra 20%. However, what happened
apparently was that all it did was to erase the old good file
and create a new file with 0 bytes, with the same name in it's
place.

Fortunately, I'd saved a thumbnail of the (nearly completed)
strip, so I didn't have to reselect all the colors from scratch.

Anyway, the next few strips are a bit artistically complex, (for
me anyway!) With Christmas shopping looming up, the story
might move a bit more slowly than I would otherwise like due
to the loss of time. The strip will still be updated, but it might
be a one row strip rather than the usual 2 rows of panels. :(

I'll do my best! We'll see how good that is. :o
