Job stuff...

Post by Jika »

I'm going to get a job as a game developer. I'd just LOVE to make a 3D adventure game for Nintendo (kinda like zelda).

A Systems Analyst IS a type of developer, in a sense. The term is kinda misleading, anyway; you don't analyse the product so much as what ppl want the project to DO. A SA goes and inteviews the ppl whose input is needed for a given project, works up the documentation, decides what engine to use (in the case of a game), collates resources, does the DFD's (data flow diagrams) and flowcharts, et al, and does a good bit of the coding and development (if not all, depends on the project)...You do the stuff (or farm it out as needed), update docs for changes, get it all done, then go back and show the original ppl - only to find out that they didn't know what they really wanted so you have to redo half of it RRRRRGGGGHHHH - ::stops to breathe:: Whether this and a Developer are the same thing, or the SA is in charge of a bunch of Dev's, depends on the company ...The MCSD cert (ms certified solutions developer) is what "certifies" you as a systems analyst and should earn you an extra $10 grand a year or so...theoretically.

Systems Analyst is just a title really. What you got to do depends more on the company/situation you're in than on the title you carry.
Around here (Belgium) wages officially aren't allowed to rise (other than inflation-correction) so the way to increase someones wage is to change his title.

Ahum, the EXTRA $10 grand a year. ??
You mean that's on top of the regular $10 (no grand here). ^__^

Heh. True. A Fancy title is better than nothing tho. Salaries here are based on how well you BS...ie, the more important ppl THINK you are, the more you get paid...and to be frank, I need the $$$ >_<

Bha, payment levels here are more related to the amount (and skill off) "arse-licking" one perfroms. Sweet talking is more important than good programming. And on what the manager can get away with without loosing you.

I took System Analysis and Design, and passed. I know some of the basics. I was just saying that in jest. :P
