Just needed somewhere to vent about Fox TV's "Did we land on the moon" show: (start rant)GOD F()CK|NG DAMMIT that show pissed me off. Thousands upon thousands of people life's work and a few extraordinary people's very lives go on the line, and Fox TV spits in their faces. I wish to no end that I had the abiltiy to personally apologize to everyone who currently is, or who has ever worked for NASA. Fox TV went out of its way to show the so called "evidence" in the best possible light and the "experts" as bumbling boobs. The laughable list of "proofs" are all old news, retreaded hacks that have long since been disproven or laughed at. Bad science, stupid nut-cases and history revisionisim at it's worst.The worst part is this: people will doubt. Most will ignore it for what it is, but there are those who will look at the "evidence" and question. One of the greatest accomplishments in this century by mankind and people will doubt it ever happened. That, my friends, is f-ing sad.My final thought is this, who the hell do they think SHOT this fake video of the moon, huh? How can they be SMART enough to work at NASA, launch what are essentially skyscrapers of fuel into space, but not smart enough to build a decent MOON SET?!? With millions and millions and millions of dollars (in the 1960's no less) and the ready assistance of the US Military and Government, why didn't they think to TURN ON THE GODDAMM STARS?? - Gee, Floyd forgot to turn on the stars in that shot, Ed, should we reshoot it?

The Russians (and anybody else with a high-end radio set up) listened and tracked the whole f-ing thing. From beginning to end. The Russians were CHOMPING AT THE BIT to report a failure, an explosion, whatever. It would have been a worldwide news story that NOBODY could have clamped down on. If this had been an fake, the Russians would have driven an aircraft carrier into New York harbor with megaphones on the deck and the US would have been a worldwide laughing stock.Nothing is more powerful than the truth.
There is no greater crime than ignoring history.

i'm with ya Tirdun. i heard that it was coming on and intentionally did not watch it because i knew it'd piss me off as much as you are. Fox TV, while having some of the better sitcoms on television, loves those fuckin so called "sensationalized" shows (When Animals Attack and all that crap as well as this Moon show). <sighs> ------------------

Yet another reason I'm incredibly happy I don't watch TV.Let's face it. Most of humanity are brainless worms who really shouldn't be allowed to play with anything sharper than a rubber ball. (Of course, it's been noted that in the pre-TV age, the people who would be staring at the TV all evening would be the people staring at the fire all evening, so this isn't evidence of a degenerative trend or anything.)Fact: most people are stupid.Fact: stupid people will doubt that we went to the Moon.Goal: when I emigrate, I want to be sure the stupid people stay here, thank you.Conclusion: it'll all work out in the end.End of counter-rant.------------------

Yeah, I know. It's just -FRUSTRATING-Fox TV decided to give some crackpot a soapbox in front of millions of people, despite the readily available facts. Despite the fact that all of this crackpot's theories are TIRED. I know you can't force people to be smarter, but there's no reason to make them dumber. Anyway, I feel better for having bitched about it, my wife was really tired of hearing about it.

I know the feeling. I intentionally avoided the show the first time in February, but when they reran it a few weeks ago I thought it would be good for a laugh. When I saw just how biased they were in presenting the "evidence," I was quite upset. I mean, I knew what kind of tripe it was going to be, considering that it was from Fox, but they didn't even try to make it appear impartial.Fox needs to stick to fiction (and I mean the kind actually labelled as such). As rickZ mentioned, some of their comedies are okay, and Dark Angel actually lived up to the hype IMO. Unfortunately, ever since COPS showed them the profitability of cheaply made "reality" shows, they have been slowly turning down the brightness setting on their entire line-up. Don't even get me started on the Fox "News" Channel (or the fact that in order to make room for it my cable provider bumped Bravo).Anyway, in other news, after a month of crunch time at work, I've gotten a chance to catch up on all my favorite strips again. Oh, and I read this one too. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">Seriously, I have a question about the <A HREF="http://farawaystars.keenspace.com/d/20010313.html" TARGET=_blank>March 13th</A> strip. From artifacting in the last panel, it appears there either should be or formerly was alternate text for the Guar guard guy. While some of it is obscured by the text that is visible in white, I can make out the line "the TRAITOR!)" at the bottom of the first block of text and "He must DIE!" below the lower block. Was this (and the following two strips, I suppose) initially an animated GIF sequence, or did you go back and fix the flub of the guard being able to understand the conversation immediately, or is there some other fascinating story about this? Inquiring minds (the kind that read the Skepitical Inquirer, not the National Enquirer) want to know! <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/biggrin.gif">

Darn my lazy fix. I had accidentally combined two episodes into one. The gaur soldier shouldn't have been able to understand the conversation yet (he does later) and so I had to go back and rewrite the text. Unfortunately, my halfass lazy color replacement didn't work quite right...Ah well... ------------------
