Pfft. I bet in real life his friends all wear "All your base" t-shirts with mustard stains and with half of the back missing. This is obviously a ploy to make us think his friends are cooler than they really are.

You hear that Joe? We're on to your little ruse!

Man, everybody has to wear those shirts once in a while.
There's nothing wrong with it.

On the other hand, I stole my vest from band class.

One time my friend from the old town I lived in found a pair of pants on his front lawn in the morning. They fit perfectly, so hey, free pants.

What was really weird is they were exactly like the pants I (his second-to-next door neighbor) wore every other day.

I suspect that the Hannibal Lector look-alike that lived between us was involved in some sort of seedy pants-cloning scheme. For some reason you always have a freaky neighbor when you live in Oregon. They're either reclusive hippies or guys who stockpile PCV pipes and cinderblocks for no good reason.

(And as a last note, why is Joe thanking his dad in the last panel?)

Since we're on the topic of neighbours... mine are just nosey. They stare out their windows whenever something is happening. I'm even sure I saw them take notes on when I leave and return... most unnerving I must say..

(I'll also add my confusion as to why Joe says Thanks in the last panel... ?)

One time Corey and I were at the laundromat, and we found four pairs of plaid pants that were still wet...so we took them home. So yea, free pants!

i like how everyone is posting on my forum about pants and neighbors and other things that have nothing to do with my comic. no, seriously, i do. it's almost like this is a real comic's forum! this is my finest hour

Is it just me, or does Johnny on the bottom of the comic look a little depressed while doing "JAZZ HANDS!!"?

"Jazz hands makes Johnny sad..."

that's just the way johnny is. one of the reasons i put him in this strip is because i could never ever imagine him doing a jazz hands in his entire life. he's too cool for that.

two days later we get our picture taken and lo and behold, johnny does it. weird, man.

In response to today's comic, I say there should be the First Annual Cartoonist's Complain About Workload-athon. It'd be great. First they'd offer a detailed description about all the school work, work work, personal engagements they have to fulfill in addition to their comics, then respond in their own personal way. Piro would write a 4000 word apology, Ian from Mac Hall would tell readers to stop bothering him, Gregg from Real Life would shrug it off, Joe and Josh Mirman would do comics about it, and Tycho would tell everyone to stop being such *explicit*s and get back to work. And then I'd do nothing because I only update once a week!

Wouldn't that be fun?

you guys, i'm so sorry about not updating at all in over a week. i've had zero time this week; i've had rehersal every night and i haven't been getting home until after 10:30. ask jackie, i haven't been able to talk to her since monday. serious drama is so fucking hard.

they say "dying is easy, comedy is hard." i disagree. comedy is easy. dying in a non-hokey way is hard.

anyway, the last showing of the play is this sunday, so fear not. by the end of this weekend i'll be able to start putting out again.

love joe
