Hello,
my name is Meghan, and I've been a member of this message board for some time, while I was setting up my keenspace site. That was when this board was on another site I think, because it went down, and I haven't been back since ^^;;
I did achieve moving my manga to keenspace, so I thought I'd come back and say hi. (now that I know this board is working now)

I'm a pretty quiet girl so my manga doesn't get many visitors, I thought maybe coming here I could meet some new people, and find some new comics to read as well.
My manga's a pretty traditional shojo manga about a young girl who's just growing up and learning about life.
If anyone likes that kind of stuff :oops:
My few readers think it's cute ^_^

Well, just wanted to say hi, and glad to be part of this community :wink:

By the way, my manga's called 'Security Blanket', not 'Insecurities'
I don't know what happened there ^^;;

Actually the trick is to not try and load the main index page, then the board loads decently fast. :)

Anyways, welcome Meghan

I can't friggen believe this!!! When I came here, NOBODY gave a rats pa-toot! But now that a WOMAN is here, everybody gets all gussied up and whatnot. What's the dilly-o?!? I'm sick of this rampant sexism that takes place here. A MAN can do anything as well as a woman, EXCEPT breastfeeding. If anybody needs me, i'll be in my trailor menstrating.

That was your introductory post Trev....

And since then you've been running around telling people to NOT read your comic. You have said many an odd thing... but now your claiming that your placental layer is liquifying??? Oh Trev... how far the mighty have fallen... I shall mourn the loss of your sanity, what little that was left anyway.

Oh, as for "all gussied up".... ??? Dude... I'm wearing 2 day old dirty clothing here, and it's not even nice stuff, it's an old Simpson's T-shirt I wear for mowing the lawn! So I have to say no to these claims of gussification.

Hey, Trev relax! All men can breastfeed with some kind of wacky harness. I hear they're working on the birth-given thing too.

I didn't get a big welcome either. Who cares? :roll:

And as for the Ontario thing; I'm from Oakville but strangley enough, I'm not a racist yuppie gino.

Your comic is what I would call a diamond in the rough, because of your good ability to draw. The comic also has an innocence about it.

Your main problem is you haven

I like your comic, shy anime chick. It's very humerous. Especially the funny parts.

Don't mind the random nutiness. :)

I agree it's a very nice comic. I sort of like the pencil work, though. It gives it a nice dreamy/sketchbook feel. Very soft, which is suitable for the tone of the comic.

Well, this isn't really my kind of genre, so I can't give any advice on the writing.

Your artwork's pretty good. Shows promise. I do agree with others who've said you should try learning to ink it, though. Ink always does wonders for the final look of things.

The thing you need the most work on, IMO, is layouts. My suggestion would be not to use the computer to put them together: learn how to do it by hand on your hard copy. It takes a little practice, but once you figure it out, it's well worth it. You'll find it helps the overall look of the comic AND makes it easier to come up with interesting layouts in the future.

I'd also say try figuring out how to do your voice balloons and other text containers by hand as well. Most professionals in the industry do it by approximating the lines with roughed-in letters, then drawing the balloon, then putting the letters in. You can still do this pretty easily even if you put your lettering in on the computer. I just guess (and usually end up either with way too much space or way too little space), but that's because I'm lazy when it comes to those things.

On the other hand, maybe listening to me about anything is a bad idea, since you've got a pretty regular update schedual, whereas the rare book-sized comic I ever even START working on takes me forever per page...I'm too much of a stickler for getting things JUST right, though, and have a tendecy to go through several inked drafts of something before I think its finished.
