heroes for sale (or rent)

Post by The Joester »

alright, you may have noticed that i've missed about three weeks worth of comics. although at this point that's only four, that number could quickly get away from me if i'm not careful. so you may be wondering, what's up with that? why did joe fall so far behind?

well, i don't feel like drawing polytheism for dummies. i dunno, it just doesn't appeal to me with now, i mean a sitcom about people with the powers of god? when i wrote it it sounded cool but now i feel like doing something else, something more...how-you-say...rpg-ish.

what you may have noticed on the site today is what's now known as Heroes For Sale. it has no planning ahead, no plot in mind, no villain as of yet, i just felt like doing a fantacy story so i did it. this is what pickle jar is all about!

actually the heroes don't even have names yet. i'm thinking the one with the sword'll be called Grin, and the one with the elf-ears will be Digo. if anyone has any other ideas, i'm all ears.

anyway, pickle jar is back! so don't you worry your pretty little head. a'ight, peace out holmes
yeah, so anyway, read Pickle Jar.

It still looks pretty cool, except for the fact it's a bit crowded and your not sure where the links are at first glance... i dunno, maybe make some more space? or make it less busy? Mind you, I like how the explaination of pickle jar kind of fades into the background at the top.

Name someone/thing Astegival (Ass-te-give-uhl)or Astegval (Ass-teg-vuhl). Don't care what, don't care whom. Just do it.

I think I agree with Chikita Banana about the new site design, though it does give you a little better acess to stuff like "Commision the artist and what have you."

I think the blonde should be Flank and the pointy eared on should be Mutton.

And El Cid's name sounds like a bad guy to me.

I've got a bad guy to go with that name, but my shitty drawing isn't good enough for you, eh, Joe? Eh?
You bum.

Astegival huh? i'll see what i can do
god, i can't believe i just used a smiley.

oh come on joe, i'd love to see your bad guy! although i kinda did already have one in mind. no idea what he's doing that would cause the heroes to go after him, but i know what he looks like. that's half the battle.
yeah, so anyway, read Pickle Jar.

Smilies: useful internet syntax or death of the english languedge.
AAAHH! IT'S GOT ME!! IT'S GOT ME BY THE LEG!!!!

Come on SUUUUUUUUPER Joe, we wanna see the drawing. You and REEEEEEEGULAR Joe could have the 1st Annual Pickle Jar Message Board villian off.

And if I might change subjects one more time, Joe, I heard you asking once in your little bloggy thing below if anyone actually read it, and I'd just like to say I do. That's half the reason I come to any web comic actually.
actually an annual villain-off is a really good idea. if my forum was more popular i'd actually do that...but as is we'd only probably have two contestants

now check this out

some of you may have noticed while paging through my archives that there were a few days when the comic wouldn't load or had a similar problem. there are a number of reasons for these, ranging from equipment failure to laziness on my part. but no matter, because i recently went through and fixed all of the holes in the archives. so now there are four pages that i'm sure none of you have seen before.
http://picklejar.keenspace.com/d/20020511.html - wasn't online because of equipment failure
http://picklejar.keenspace.com/d/20020514.html - same reason
http://picklejar.keenspace.com/d/20020702.html - long story. basically i lost it.
http://picklejar.keenspace.com/d/20020608.html - actually the end of doll & doll. hmm. i'm gonna be honest, this one wasn't up because i was lazy and never finished it

that's it. have fun
yeah, so anyway, read Pickle Jar.

Oh, Joe... you ass.

And now it seems I actually have to DRAW the villian I was thinking of.
Well I could do it today, but wouldn't you rather I do it at... THE SAN DIEGO COMIC CONVENTION!?!?

...which I'm going to and you are not.

...just asking?

...okay, I'll do it today.

Oh... yes, it was fun.
About that villian, I lost the character sketch and forgot it.

Oh well. I can always draw something else later.
