Because we all know women are nothing, males make the world go 'round, thus they are important and god is a man too.

possibly, still...what female would protect a religon that shits on them and says they only exist to serve man. Adam needed a friend/entertainment so God gave him a female. Religons makes me wish (and other things) I were a man.

if I rerember Abe was promiced somthing good if he preached god's word...and the devil makes promices where god says shit and does nothing about it, if you ask me, satin can do more crap and two of those gods....
IF i were being tricked 'satin' would give me what I want for being a lacky, alas, netiher the two give me a lover, prettyness, and this dammed scoliosus (sp...curved spine annoying-ness) and fame! (god will give you money if you pray for it....money is evil...greed is a sin....morons)

This goes back to the argument of people wanting something to believe in. Something bigger than themselves and bigger than anyone else who may harm them. It is selfish in some ways and imploring in others. 'There are no aetheists un foxholes' is a reflection of that. People who have felt themselves to be wronged and are powerless to do anything about it fall into this group as well.

The assumed reader of literature is rendered masculine as well. That is just the way most languages of the world are taught and used. The third is a backlash against politically correct enforcer/tyrants. People have been told to watch their step for fear of provoking a capricious, but vocal, minority or risk being arbitrarily punished; this is a constant fear for many which they live through every day of their lives. The one place many seek refuge from such is in their belief that their faith will not be regimented by the PC brigade. Such individuals, already driven to xenophobia, do not react well to what they see as a politically correct version of their faith; it is possible they would believe that this 'new' faith would be forced upon them sooner or later.
Yes it is depressing but there are very few conflicts which are based in religion as opposed to those using religion as a symbol to mask the real struggle for power (i.e. the oft mentioned but poorly understood Crusades). In this case the power is about identity and privacy. I seriously doubt that most of the people who complained about god's gender crisis have hatred toward women or want to see them subjugated. I'm sure a lot of them would agree to the possibility of god having no gender. So why the fuss? A person or group from 'outside' his social group has changed 'his' religion. I don't think that a soul is something you are automatically born with, rather it is something that you gain through self awareness...I don't believe animals have souls. I don't believe anyone had a soul.
I agree. I don't pray cause even though my religion finds that praying to god is a good, i think that it is beneath the dignity of any man or woman to beg favors of another being, divine or not, when we - most of the time - do not *need* these favors, but can handle it ourself if we just use our minds.I don't think people should try to place others into a subservient position.
Respect is a good thing though, but you should only take is so far...

Hmmm..prayer....
My view is that the fundamental prayer is that known as the Lord's Prayer, and that the significant part of that is "Thy will be done" coupled with "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us"
There's a conditional here...we get forgiven but we have to forgive in turn and that just ain't the easy way for us.......
Also to say "THY will be done" instead of "MY will be done" and to truly mean and accept the implications of that phrase is damned difficult. I doubt whether I've managed either...
I do believe that prayers are answered whether consciously offered or not. I also believe that those answers are geared to need rather than want and often cannot be recognised until long after the event.
That, friends is my two penn'orth....I will accept flames as offered

That's what Gods were originally prayed to for! The old panthoen Gods, when everything in the world was mystical in nature! But hey, I'm a sucker for the old fashioned! I don't buy it, but the idea that a tree is a little God is kinda neat! And who knows? Maybe it's true?
