Roberto, I'm curious what your experience with fantasy has been that lead you to do this strip? With me it's been games versus reading McAffrey and such. Great work, and congratulations!
------------------

The influences are pretty varied. I started playing console RPGs (for the Nintendo and later Super Nintendo) when I was younger, which prompted me to create a fantasy world with my own characters. I shared my little world with a few peers at grade school, and we'd all take different roles in it, so it would become an interactive RPG of sorts. Though that died down a bit, my fascination with fantasy was never ending much like the quest it spawned, so I read a bunch of the Chronicles of Narnia (all the books except "A Horse and His Boy" [some for school and others for fun {since I'm such a loser}]).
My main motivation for the fantasy theme of Never Ending Quest, however, is the Ultima series of games (even a little bit of Ultima Online, if only for Robertio's character design) by Origin Systems Inc. Those games focus on an all-powerful hero who embodies virtue. I chose to focus on "the other guys" - the losers of the realm of fantasy.
For the future, I'd like to read more of Tolkien's works, since I hear his writings are some of the best fantasy-related stuff available. The books could help me refine my knowledge of traditional fantasy, though I plan to introduce not-so-traditional characters and monsters in NEQ soon.
------------------
