and say I understood today's Doodle, but it was definitely worth it just for the long awaited return of our beloved Mallethead.

Well, here's my guess. Now that Boxjam has finally gotten a shot on KeenSpot, he feels like the whole world is watching, represented by all central characters in his world standing around waiting for him to take the shot, and he's feeling the pressure.
Will he make the shot? Or will he miss?
My prediction...
nothing but net.

am I right, Boxjam? Have I finally gotten one of your comics?

Not what I was going for, but this one was clearly my fault.

I should have separated the two teams more, and I should have had BoxJam and the dead squirrel against a chain link fence instead of at the top of the key, and I should have done it as several frames where the various teams got chosen, instead of the one scene.

Heh -- I wasn't sure, either. I thought perhaps BoxJam had accidentally killed the squirrel with the basketball and everyone was staring at him in shock.

And yet, as I was considering it, I noticed the long-awaited return of Mallethead (one happy-Dave point), and the comic image of a dead squirrel (another happy-Dave point... two points), and then had the mental image of Mallethead whomping a squirrel (deliriously-giddy-with-sick-sick-laughter point).

So I laughed anyway.

Not to criticize, but I think the abstract
situation in my head created by today's
doodle was completely different than what
you have described.

But on the other hand, I hate it when
musicans absolutley refuse to interpret
their lyrics.

So BoxJam loses either way. Which is how it
should be.

Whatever it means, it'd make for another kick-ass t-shirt.

I know it sucks when you have to explain these things (mind you, I wish someone would even ask) but now that you have explained it, that's pretty fucking funny, mate.

I thought that BoxJam was wearing on of the new t-shirts, and everyone was in awe of it. I'm dense, at times. Like in Charlie's Angels.
I feel so funky.

Got the joke, but I had NO IDEA that that was a dead squirrel. So, you could say that I got the joke, but not the WHOLE joke.
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.
