I just got a graphics tablet this weekend. I tested it out by colourizing the fanart I drew for Meekerz (well Bee actually). And then just to show how much I care I censored out the "naughty" bits just for you Mika.
------------------

It's still much easier to do drawing on paper with pencil and then ink than it is to just draw with the graphics tablet, but drawing with the graphics tablet alone is infinetly better than drawing with the mouse alone.
Colouring and other computer manipulations of the scanned line art is much, much easier with the pen and tablet than with the mouse.
It's also a lot faster. This will be handy if I ever decide to go daily.

You drag your finger across the tiny area and the mouse moves accordingly. That's a very rough approximation of a graphics tablet.
A 'real' table is generally controlled by a pointing device shaped like a mouse or a pen, depending on your purpose. One advantage is that the tablet can offer absolute positioning - put the pen in the lower right corner, and the cursor goes there too.
Another advantage is that the pen can be pressure sensitive, transmitting how hard you push down on the tablet. Tablet aware software can then splay the virtual brush hairs wider, or lay the virtual color deeper.
Of course, another advantage is that you can do sketching-like strokes easier with a pen than a mouse.
I had a Wacom 4x5 tablet, but found that my computer art skills weren't advanced enough to take advantage of it, so I found it a better home.

While I'd love to see daily strips like UF, PVP, ItsWalky amd Sinfest, I realize that there's a great danger of burnout, so take care, G. Your stuff shows a lot of effort in the shading and rendering, and I worry if you try to do it daily.
Now, twice-weekly (or thrice) I wouldn't mind...
