Inky Pens

Yes.. I have finally opened the Pilot pen and used it! I used it to ink Friday's and next Monday's comic. At first the pen wasn't writing when I wanted it to. Then I tried writing with it on an angle and the ink came out easier. Perhaps a little too easy. (The Uniball Vision Exact pens must be held straight up to get ink on your paper!)So, its all good.
And I really like how my comics turned out too! They are both all ready to be put up, and I'm really excited about them. I'd like to put them up day after day after day,.. but then I'd get behind really fast, as opposed to being on-time/ahead-of-schedule.See ya later!!------------------

Guess what else?I forgot to tell you that when I went pen-shopping I saw a purple uniball vision Exact!Might be interesting to do PDM with that pen!*raises an eyebrow*Eh?------------------

I dunno what's this deal about pens but I recommend you use felt-tip pens instead. That's what I use personally. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/biggrin.gif"> Just my opinion.------------------

Oooh pens! I have over 50 different ones!Those gel biros are the best! And Pentel GFKP brushpens are great for colouring the black areas (some pro manga artists use pens like that)Although, for watercolour paintings it has to be one of those cheap dip pens and a bottle of ink ^_^...ahem...

One day I shall take a photo of my pens and put it on my website.Maybe not.Every time I go into the art store I buy a pen (or two) which is how I got so many ^_~ but now my family makes fun of me 'cos I have too many pens!:P I'll start buying watercolours instead! (I already have 30!)

that is true... you could do that using screen or fill couldn't you? I make Zeila's hands glow using screen..Hmm.. ? Your pilot is a V5? Mine is a V7!I wonder what the difference is??Anyways, the purple pen is called the Unibal Vision Exact.. and it comes in Black and Purple (those are the colours I've seen.. I bought the black one. I'm still using my pilot though)Oh.. And I've got a question for either you, or Geejay.. (and Bryan?)How do you guys colour your stuff so good? I heard Pam mention something about using layers on Paint Shop(/PhotoShop?)..
I have Adobe Photo Shop 3... As well as MGI Photo Works and MGI Photo Suite 3.
I've been using only Photoshop for my comics. One day, I accidentally made some little window pop up.. one tab said layers, while the other one(or two?) said something that I don't remember.. Anyways.. I need to know this so I can make my Thermalyte banner(s)...

Well, I'm glad your pens are working out okay! I have to buy ANOTHER one, I think the pilot v5 that I picked up recently was kinda messed up when it came out of the package... -_-...actually, it'd be nice to get a purple pen! Though I'm not sure I'd ink Purple Duck Mambo with it, it'd make for some interesting sketches. ...hmm. I could just purpleize the comic using Paint Shop Pro, if I felt like it. Hee! Ideas!------------------

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Ok. First I recommend you go over to elfwood and read their FARP tutorials there. It's what got me started in coloring using my PC. Actually... I tried to figure it out for myself but wanted to see how the other people do it so I read the tutorials anyway. You can build your own technique after reading their work. I'm actually cheating in a way. Those colors you saw in my banners, title images and giftart are flat. Oh they are on a different layer alright but I just fill in the color I want and that's it. The shading you see there is just the pencil shading I left onto the drawing. I just use the multiply setting on the ink layer (my top-most layer) and it basically overlays the inks on top of my color layer. But I also use the Air brush tool (with the white color selected) to make a surface shine if needed... like the hair or the eyes. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>If I rememeber correctly, the V7 is only "fine" while the V5 is "extra fine"...It may stand for the apx. line width (e.g., .5mm and .7mm pens), though the lines definitely come out thinner than that in practise...And Pam, I'm sorry to hear that your V7 was a defect -- they *still* haven't let me down, tho lately I've been playing with a 0.5 Pilot "Professional Drawing Pen" just to get a slightly thicker line.Actually, I'm thinking I want a WAY thicker line for some of my work, so I'm going to go have to hunt down the local art shoppe to find me a few big 'uns... <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/eek.gif">
