Or, if you would prefer... FIRST POST!
I'm wondering if those world-invaders are hackers. And if they are, shouldn't there be a very strong regulation preventing this sort of thing? After all, VR feedback can be fatal.
Also, it seems one of those invaders has been seen in this comic before - specifically, the ugly demon-creature whose idea of social graces was pure bluntness. Might these become returning characters?

Yea Gods... Someone actually shows interest in the message board. Been so long since that happened it's fallen out of habit for me to check it
First off, thanks for the post in the Forums on Schlock Mercenary Drakkenmaw. I think you may have single handedly double our hits, don't know if they'll stay that way, but it's a definite boost to my ego
The World Invaders nature will be explained through the comic, but no they aren't hackers and there are strong regulations against it. Apologies in advance for the cliff hanger that's coming up for the holiday season btw.
As for the ugly demon thing, yep he's a recurring character, though not a major one yet. Once I get the new cast page up sometime next year you'll be able to find him there along with better info and pictures of all the characters. For now though he has the unoriginal screen name of Cyber-Fiend and you can also find him in Prax's dream sequence in the second comic.
If the forums continue to stay active I'll try to make my posts hasty. Hopefully more people will join you here Drakkenmaw.
--Praxis Lupine

Actually, no, they're not hackers. They're jsut soem over zealous PvPers who play games like modern Day Quake, Dook Nukem and various other first person, rat in a maze with a particle weapon games.
As for hackers, they're as real as anything else. jsut becuase security measures have gotten more sophisticated, doesn't mean the hackers haven't.
You'll jsut have to see in future strips. :-)

This is a good comic, that doesn't seem to be getting the recognition it deserves. As someone who hopes to start a comic one of these days, it's a nice thing to do and something I hope someone will eventually do with me.
Besides, this is a just good comic. I feel it's good to share humor.

Again, I would liek to extend my thanks to those who've jsut recently stumbled across us and spread the word adn those who've stuck with us through the beginning. We know you're out there, keenspace says we're getting at least 1k page reads a day on average, and you ahve to be coming from somewhere :-D
I may not speak for Prax, but feel free to ask us questions and submit comments. Be nice though. Not all the characters in the comic are ficticious, either psycologically or emotionally. *grins evily*
------------------

Drak enticed me over from another comic we both read. I like this one. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the future.

If they aren't hackers, and thus have only guest privilieges, whats stopping Ford from causing a spontaneous outbreak of falling cows in their area? Or ruling by fiat that guns don't work in his world?

I believe the correct term is "Melodramatic".
Stay tuned for the next couple weeks and you'll see what we are talking about. A lot of it will be revealed.
And, before you start bagging on future storylines, everythign and anything is possible. Even the most secure places have peopel spending msot of thier times trying to crack it for the thill.
Also, I hate to spoil the few things, but you'll see how the rogue players got in there to begin with. Send lots of email to Prax to tell him to read the instruction manual next time :-)
------------------

To put it simply: Ignorance
He's only had the program for a day and has been focusing entirely on the building aspects.
The world looks nice, has a lot of its base physical components, however it really wasn't ready for people to enter it. Most of its security protocols are inactive and it really lacks one of the most essential elements for proper world maintenance and security, the World AI.
Ford is also not thinking very clearly at the moment, he's a bit excitable at times if you haven't noticed. He doesn't realize at the moment that he can do that kind of stuff, let alone how to do it. Of course now that he's been blown up he'll have plenty of time to think and maybe, just maybe he'll have been knocked back to his senses.
--Prax
