Why not make a little critic of the current page?
So here...nice feeling of action, movement and expression.
What look wrong to me, it the difference of style, you start by a very dark and well shaded pic, to an totaly different style. Perchap stick with one style at a time for every page would be better. Cya emiko!
------------------

Stick with one style? Me? Naah, if I did that, I wouldn't learn as much. ^^ TBE is an experiment, anyway, so I may as well make the most of it! I actually like the contrating effect on that page myself...
But, c'mon, no other thoughts on this? (Referring to the page before the current one.)

Well, you're sure to like Interlude III, then, as it's going to be completely with chibis!
But, hey, chibi-Fey poking out chibi-Hirsch's eye would be kinda... uhh... XD;;; So no chibis in Interlude I I'm afraid. (Or in Interlude II!) But there's sure to be a chibi somewhere in Issue Two, so don't despair!
~Em

Uh, Kern, don't glare at *my mother*...
Given the fact I don't think she knows that you're the one who runs the MOMC, it can only be taken as anonymous critique.
[This message has been edited by Emily Teal Young (edited 10-06-2001).]

Hi, Em's mom! I love your daughter's comic! I'm the crazy Talia fan. I'm the one who made the Talia wallpaper and a new one that I'm gonna send to Em soon. (hint hint) I happened to enjoy the different styles in the comic. They're part of what makes it so fun. But an interlude of all chibies? That'd be fun! Chibi Talia. ::stares happily into space:: Sorry, got carried away there. Anywho, love the styles, and chibis are fun. Will there be any chibies in the 2nd interlude?

Wait, you just said that there wouldn't be any chibification in the 2nd Interlude. Spoony me. It could be interesting though.

Em: NO! Talia is not in the third Interlude! NO!!! >_<;;
Feodor: *chuckles* No, but you'll get a chibi-me and a chibi-0ri. And, depending on how Em goes with it, Hirsch and Edwina, too.
Em: BUT NO TALIA!! *dies*
Oh, and I didn't mean anonymous thing, but impersonal. *shrugs* I may as well quit while I'm ahead.

No, i like the different styles. It makes the story more like eye candy -- you not only want to know what is going to happen next, but what it will look like. Emi is right in that sticking to one style may stunt her artistic growth. I LOVE what she's doing. However, I could not vote for her on MOMC, as I saw nothing on that page that linked to voting, except for the pictures already there who I think had already won. Emi, don't link to things that are poorly designed or constructed, or give instructions on your site as to what to do from the voting site. That would be helpful. Nice work, sweet-ums...

quote:
Originally posted by Kern:

Oh, Kern, TONS of people love chibis -- but stiff-necked people like me can't for the life of us figure out WHY! I think it has to do with one's tolerance for the overly-cute. Takes all kinds though to make the world go around! So, party-on, chibi-dude...

quote:
Originally posted by Kern:

Chibi-Talia, I love you! You know that. And Chibi-Ariel, I loves you too. Dry your eyes, and go have some fun.

Kern, I should not have said the MOMC site was poorly designed -- it was not. However, what I felt was that it needed more clarification on how to vote. I was looking for a way to vote for Emi, having been linked from her site, and was not able to figure out how to do that, so I left. My suggestion was that Emi should include instructions for her fans on how to vote for her on other sites, since we are being brought from her site, we are expecting to see her work or her name to vote on. I have an informal way of speaking to Em, and that came through as harsh now that I re-read it, so I apologize for the poor choice of words.
No need to hide, especially if you accept my apology!

quote:
Originally posted by Kern:

I know who the Great Gillikin is -- don't forget, I was a judge for the contest entries. I am a fan of your stick figure theater shorts.
However, I am NOT a chibi fan. That's the dwarf-morph style -- the short things with the huge eyes, right? Ugh! That is the part of anime I dislike the very most. Ugh and double-ugh! But, I do share your admiration of Talia, although she is a little clingy. Sort of like Tinkerbell was in Peter Pan -- must be a flaw of the species I suppose. I especially liked her in the one that was guest-colored, and I like how Emi draws her close-up, too. Interesting face.
Truth be told, I love seeing the art of this interlude, but I like the story in the original strip better. But, I know Em has a purpose for doing this...she is a several steps ahead of the readers in that regard...the creator knows, the rest have to wait and see. That goes for Mamas, too. (Especially).

quote:
Originally posted by Gillikin:

heh - I like the recent pages! Especially how there's that softer panel - its a good way to draw the reader's eye in a certain direction, and reminds me of how other comics like Blade of the Immortal use that technique to represent changes in atmosphere and mood. *ahem, geeez, that sounded pretentious.. hahaha!*
oh btw, emily - its mee from geejay's forum! just stopping by! *waves*
------------------
