Happy, happy, joy, joy! I got both of my questions answered, a new comic for today, my fanart was put up, and college is done for the semester! I'm full of happiness. Thanks so much for answering my questions! And there's a fairy today! It's a day full of surprises. Here's a personal question for Feodor & Orriole, have either of you ever read anything by L. Frank Baum? He's a personal fav. of mine, and wrote almost exclusivly in the fantasy genre. (He wrote the Wizard of Oz). And question number two, since you asked for human questions, who has been your favorite historical figure since you've been alive?
Since I'm so happy (and out of it), I'll leave with one of my favorite quotes from L. Frank Baum (mini-question #3, do you like the quote?)

Have you heard of the great Forest of Burzee? Nurse used to sing of it when I was a child. She sang of the big tree-trunks, standing close together, with their roots
intertwining below the earth and their branches intertwining above it; of their rough coating of bark and queer, gnarled
limbs; of the bushy foliage that roofed the entire forest, save where the sunbeams found a path through which to touch the ground in little spots and to cast weird and curious
shadows over the mosses, the lichens and the drifts of dried leaves.
The Forest of Burzee is mighty and grand and awesome to those who steal beneath its shade. Coming from the sunlit meadows
into its mazes it seems at first gloomy, then pleasant, and afterward filled with never-ending delights.
For hundreds of years it has flourished in all its magnificence, the silence of its inclosure unbroken save by the chirp of busy chipmunks, the growl of wild beasts and the
songs of birds.
Yet Burzee has its inhabitants--for all this. Nature peopled it in the beginning with Fairies, Knooks, Ryls and Nymphs. As
long as the Forest stands it will be a home, a refuge and a playground to these sweet immortals, who revel undisturbed in
its depths.
Civilization has never yet reached Burzee. Will it ever, I wonder?
~L. Frank Baum in his 1902 book, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.

Okay, now that we have a faerie in the strip (heh...and she was the character I'm apparently most like...er...except I'm 6'0" and I don't have wings) I'd like to pose some fae-relevant questions.
1) Are those little sparkles floating about her magical energy or faerie dust? (If it's the latter, is faerie dust narcotic?)
2) What is the extent of fae magic?
On another note, since you've already dealt with this question, I don't really expect it to show up in the archives, but I'd at least like it looked at.
I came across an interesting tidbit of Celtic mythology regarding the "wyld hunt," where the court of the fae would ride and recruit humans to join them, effectively becoming fae themselves. (An offshoot of the "changeling" myth, except the objective mortals aren't infants, and the hunt occours at certain times of year). Maybe it's something to consider with the "humans becoming elves" thing...can you either confirm or debunk this?
Gotta go. I've got lab rats growing pointed ears in all the wrong places.

Yeah, new comic, and new ask an elf. What to ask... hmm... How long does a fairy live? And who names them, do they have parents which take care of them and name them, or do their respective elves name them? Oh, and Talia, I think you're very sweet, and that Orriole was right in thinking that you should help answer the questions, I'm certain you're very helpful for Feodor. Thanks a lot, keep up the good work, I love your comic.
------------------
Here's a question for you, Orriole!
In your characters, many of them hate math, and none of them seem to like it... is this indicitive of something that happens when humans are exposed to the elven world, or is it just because math is a rotten subject that no one would like?
{P.S. I'm the one who asked the Jazriot-esque question via E-mail}
Ohhh!
Here's another question for you, Em!
In your characters section, Em, it says a person's {or elf's or faerie's} blood type. Elves and Faeries have the same blood types as humans do. Does this mean that elves, faeries and humans have some common ancestry, or are they just very biologically similar? {If so, why?}
Heehee, sorry for having so many questions. I've just recently become obsessed with your comic
[This message has been edited by Guntar (edited 05-23-2001).]

Hmmm. Those are all very interesting questions! I'm going to have to read the answers.
Here's a question to all of you (but mostly directed at Feodor):
Aren't elves supposed to be tiny? Or small? How come in TBE they are the same size as humans? Is this normal? I thought elves were short, like dwarves, fairies, and leprechauns.. but with pointy ears.
Oh.. and one more thing.. I thought it was cool when Feodor hid his pointy ears from Yuki's mom.. then they popped back out later.. So I'm wondering..
(a question to Feodor)
Is this painful in anyway, or a natural thing to do? If it is painful, how much, and are you used to it by now? Does hiding your pointy ears take a lot of energy (or magic or power?) possibly leaving you tired?
That's all for now!
Now I'm off to see the answers!
-Christine the AnimeCanuck
------------------

Some questions I'd like to ask before the restraining order gets put on me again:
Feodor, can't you liven up Yuki? I love her, but she's so staid and straightlaced. Get her some leather clothes and manage to get her drunk and at least leave her with ONE tattoo before the night is over and she has to go back to being a prig again. It'll be worth it! You owe her that much!
Orri and Magnus, will you marry me? I promise that you shall both wear nothing but the skimpiest Gucci loincloths and high-quality collars and do nothing but sit around and be in my harem all day. PLEASE! I NEED YOU TO LIVE!
... ahem...
And finally: Talia, don't you get cold? Can't you raid a Barbie closet or something?
That is all. Emiko, if you manage to... persuade... Magnus and Orriole about question II, I'll see that you're paid handsomely. *passes over a suitcase surrepticiously full of illegal Seifer merchandise*

Tami, you are soooo horrendously evil. You deserve a round of appluase. ::applauds::
~Em
Dangit, noo! I want Orriole. ;_; Orriole, I won't make you wear loincloths, I just want you to cook for me and wiggle your ears. See? I'm nice!
Of course, if you were to do something with Feodor you'd have to let me watc-Ahem!
Guntar: Moo! I'm not worthy of an "esque"
And FINALLY, a question: Do Elves have hollow bones or something? Feodor, your weight is just too low considering your height and how stacked you are. ^_~

Hey Em.. I have a question for you ABOUT Ask An Elf.. How often do you update it?
And another question:
Hirschel, Hi! I like vampire fangs... you sound cute.. will you go out with me? (hehe..) Umm. that wasn't the real question.. now for the REAL question.
Hirschel, when do you think you'll make your grand first appearance in the comic? And are you an evil vampiric elf, or a good vampiric elf?
Oh.. and a suggestion for you Emily... Could you possibly do more than just 5 questions per session? Like up to 10... maybe???
Thanks! See ya!

Ask an Elf updates one to three times a week, depending on how many questions we're gotten.
I could move up to 10, but I don't want to use up the pool of questions too quickly! As it is, this is really the first backlog we've gotten, and I'm not expecting it to be permanent. Hirschel, however, may end up being permanent. ::sigh:: He wasn't even in the original cast roster, but now I can't get rid of him...
~Em

I got my questions answered, and you liked my picture again! I can now be happy. Oh, and I liked the classy smiley you gave me, I had to look at it a bit to figure it out, but then I saw it. If you can't tell, I really like Talia. So here is a question for her, What do faeries eat? Do they perhaps sip the dew at dawn, or do they actually eat real food? (Oh, and could Feodor or Orriole or Hirschel or anyone manage to sneak me into the Elven world so that I could get a faerie too?? )

Hirschel wasn't on the original cast roster? Hmm. Did you just create him for "ask an elf" when you were talking about half elves?
Anyways.. Don't worry Emily! I think you'll have more backlogs from now on.. Especially since I started reading your comic! ^_~
And another thing.. Um.. I didn't understand today's side comic. What does a towel have to do with anything? Is that an inside joke?

The towel thing is a quickie to answer in here. It's an homage to the great Douglas Adams, who died recently. ~_~ You must read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It is simply superb.
You sass that hoopy Douglas Adams? Now there's a frood who knew where his towel was. And we loved him for it. *sniffle*
~Em
