Well, the episode's quite a good one. (I'm somewhat surprised, though not amazed, that Shadowrose doesn't appear to have heard of the Silver Guardian- I'm not going to take his word that he hasn't *g*- after all, I can't really think of a reason for him to have heard of. I like Irooz's second response in the second panel *chuckle*- from generic to particular... Not to mention, erm, "those incidents". Right... I wonder if anyone will ever get more specific than that! As I said, I like it. )
Great to hear about Christmas shopping. As to the school issue, there's a dog-Latin expression that comes to mind but without your permission I don't think I'm allowed to say it on a public Forum. (I.n.C. is the abbreviation, if you've heard it before...) My very considerable sympathy, in any event. And this reader will just wait patiently for the next instalment, is all- what must be, must be.

Wendy would be, oh... twenty-something, tops. My timeline's in a notebook my friend borrowed, I think, so I can't check to get a better clue, but she's tops in her mid-twenties, not older than 26. She's known Shadowrose for ten years or so, approximately.

Ok. Not to deny that "not all children are afraid of the dark" was more in reference to (for want of a better description) her emotional?/practical age in any case, but as to that- and other things, I was thinking.

quote:

Hmm... Lifespan... I had thought about that, really, I had... Lesse...
Typical human lifespan would be around fifty, about where it lay in the medieval ages, life's pretty hard. Hasn't stopped the rare individual *ahem*Sah's grandfather*cough* from growing considerably older.
Faerie lifespans would be somewhere up towards 1-2 millenia in human years, if they get a natural death. Considering the war between them and human that's been raging, and the prejudices and racism that still lives, few reach that age. And... Their culture plays a part in it, too. Cruel death sentences are common-ish.

Hrm- you haven't hinted at any (formal, or other) division here between the seelie and unseelie courts- is that not a factor in the culture Faerie of OMW?

quote:

Those partially faerie get a lifespan somewhere in between the two, longer the more faerie blood they have, and longer for mages than for ungifted.
Do note that even as there are quite a few half-faeries in PH, they are relatively uncommon, faeries, and especially female faeries, are all too often sterile to waste valueable blood like that. Of course, they don't know that it's their warrior rites that disturbs hormone production and makes it so hard to produce offspring.
Hrrm... And, because I'm posting, anyways, can as well go further into lifespans...
Xi'lavri, cat people from the Islands, have nine lives. More or less. At the very least, they're damn tough. Nothing short or a cut throat, heart hit or sand fever can cause irrevocable death on them, it seems. And age, of course. Typical lifespan around 90-ish.
Elves, seldom-seen west-ish, lifespan somewhere like the faeries, take three centuries or so.

Had wondered about elves (and, given that figure on the cast page image, left side, dwarves and gnomes, as well...)

And, also, there are a bunch of faerie moon-worshipping vampires, west of the Woods of Camael. We don't talk a lot about them, pretend they don't exist if possible.

OIC.
(Thinking about the what-would-posters-want-described and who-would-we-want-interviewed post from the other thread.
