Nice!
But unless I'm not looking carefully and she already is, shouldn't Wendy be going as a vampire?

Wendy, a vampire- ordinarily, I'd say, because she's "out for blood" - but one could so easily take that... wrong. She does so like the look of it, though, and it seems to have been the first thing that caught her attention the once she caught up again with Shadowrose.
Eep!..
Erm... I mean, indeed!! Hope you had tons of fun!!!

Oh, makes sense then. The idea, however, falls on the point that vampires seldom are pretty, colorful, sparkly, etc. I could easily see her dressing up as Skids from BmB, though.
Or Kiki.
Fun, yes, for the five minutes it took to go trick-or-treating my own house. Wouldn't go anywhere else, and it was COLD out, especially dressed that lightly.

Nequii is, indeed. And since he doesn't have a defined area, he settles for intervening with the mortals' lives and just getting along.
After he's settled matters with Irooz, if ever, he's likely going to plot out a way to get hold of his creator and hurt her for putting him through hell four times a week.

I had been wondering what Nequii was god of, actually, yes, and thought I'd missed something *g*... but being "at-large" in diplomatic parlance can be a satisfactory state of affairs.

(EDIT: my idea for a quiz- guessing what kind of candy the various Haveners would have in their baskets on Hallowe'en night... for I do wonder Would Rey even bother, e.g.- and would anyone want to try something they took from his cache? ... *snicker* 'Diplomatic' can be discussed... He is rather... Well... Let's just say there's a pretty symbolic reason for him to be in Haven of all places, except for his brother being there. Camael doesn't like his father. His two tails are the result of a curse Camael cast upon him. As is uncontrolled shapeshifting from almost-human (think Savrin from Furfire or something) to oversized two-tailed fox. But it's better than to be dead. The Curse on Haven negates the shapeshifting part of his personal Curse, though.
Oh, 'Rose can have fun if he wants to, but he doesn't think he deserves it, so he doesn't want to. That's the short story. The long story has to do with his very tragic past. *nod*
R

Hrm... "politics" (half-*g*). If one's interested in definitions (my own inclinations in "philosophy of language" tend, for what little it's worth, very far away from dictionary definition and very well toward actual social use) it seems to be a word with about 5+ definitions in the online Merriam-Webster's, of which the fifth seems the most useful, the total complex of relations between people living in society. And the question of whether the Gods get involved in or even care about that - hrm. Cazhar encouraging Shadowrose's suicide on the one hand, but Camael's annoyance over Nequii's interference on the other? The evidence you're providing seems equivocal (Ok, maybe not so equivocal, since Cazhar seems a doggy loose cannon) (EDIT: Eric rereads chapter 1-14 of OMW. Animals. The animals' Gods, with the exception of Uwghlock, were sent into deep hibernation. Lately, the Deer's God woke, as did Alioda, the equine Goddess. She was, overall, not as deeply asleep as the others, since the sentient forms of horses (pegasis, unicorns, dracasis, so on) live in Lands of the Orders and unicorns and dracasis are used for mounts in Westlands and Erigineea.
Umm, no, I would hope noone quite -that- malicious would be made a Paladin.

How long has the Paladin's Council been around, anyhow... Hopefully long enough to have some serious ritual going. It really is turning out to be bad enough that Rey got in...
Alioda's name is familiar (used in exclamations enough times by now, I suspect *g* ). Thanks!

Ahhh.
Well, it's true that I usually think more of a scythe, skull and crossbones when I think of Death (Neil Gaiman's and Terry Pratchett's versions aside- and Terry Pratchett's version does meet that physical profile...) (and I shouldn't forget about a dozen other counterexamples...) - this does make me think yet again about the events surrounding 'Rose's suicide attempt and their consequents. I'd thought Nequii and his mother were acting to prevent divine (other divine) intervention, but apparently they were the only source of it in the area. (Be it understood that- especially given the circumstances, the results, the...- I'm just sorting things out in my mind; I'm definitely glad they intervened, but while Camael has a mad-on at Nequii to begin with, his comment on 'napping him that he's been interfering is making more sense, in a way. Something else, on another topic: as to Nequii's father's name, in a way, you did mention it- you gave Nequii it qua surname; I didn't quite catch on...)

So the Gods appoint the Paladins (for the most part) and the Paladins occasionally make temporal (in the archaic sense) rulings? Gotcha...
