I'm sure that most of you are like me, and have joined Keenspace for the sheer joy of doing a comic. I'm sure most of also feel as I do, and do not expect your creation to make any money or bring you any prestige. That being said, I really would like to make a living out of doing this. However, I don't think 'Zap Jones' is going to do that, or 'Squatters' for that matter. Now don't get nervous, I'm not going to quit doing either strip. I'm just gonna add to my burden by doing a third comic. 'Park Life' is an idea I've been tossing around in my head for quite some time. I think it has the potential to make it into newspapers. At first, I was gonna attempt to bring my old strip, 'Ballyhoo!', back from the dead, but I decided my heart just wasn't in that one. 'Park Life is different, it's fresh, creative, and most important, family friendly. I can get a lot of milage out of it without getting bored. So, starting sometime in June, 'Park Life' will begin with a three day a week schedule, slowly turning into more days as I shuffle it into a rotation with 'Zap' and 'Squatters'. DJ Coffman's fantastic success with 'Gravity' has made me realize that it can be done if you put your mind to it. So, I'm counting on you guys to help me get the word out once the 'Park' is open.Here's an early concept drawing: <IMG SRC="http://zapjones.keenspace.com/images/parklife.jpg"> Things will probably change art wise, as I get a little more simplistic and cleaned up look that will look good in the papers. SCIX's reference was to Penny Arcade's cut-and-paste "home version" of their strip that featured a bench, a dude, and a squirrel. You could arrange 'em any way you want, and write in whatever you wanted 'em to say. Then you'd upload 'em to a board... it has since been discontinued.No worries, mate. ;-D

I will help spread the word. I have been thinking about this stuff myself. How to get "Todd and Penguin" into the papers. After that botched kidnapping scheme of the editor's daughter, I guess I will have to re-think my planning. Does my comic, being in color decrease the chances of that? I have noticed that most of the comics on the space and spot who are in print are in black and white. Anyone want to weigh in here with their opinions of what one should do to get in the papers?

First of all, I really like the art style! The wacky guy is great. I love the way his toes curl up. Good poses on the 1st squirrel & the bird @ the end. Having the long park shot was a nice visual treat, too.The script/gag is OK.. It features the 'innocent' faced with a reality not as gentle as previously imagined. Will "crap" and "chicks" be your shot into the mainstream?? I don't know about that. Though.. on second thought 'chicks' is kinda funny 'cause they would be young female birds.. hmm. Maybe it's just the "crap" that bothers me... seems... out of place for some reason, especially if you want to get printed in papers. Or maybe I live in a conservative box. :-D
