I got almost nothing done this weekend. Went to Dreamworld with mates on Saturday and spent the rest of the weekend dizzy and nauseous.

Finished coloring the next two pages!! I still have a momentum and desire to do comic stuff, but don't feel like scanning/editing right now and I'm not sure if my caffeine jitters has worn off enough to bother trying to sketch :(

This is my first proper day off since since the sixteenth and I'm trying to revel in it as much as possible. On the bright side, it IS only three o'clock right now.

I'm not up for taking these two pages the hundred meters to the finish line yet, but at the same time the prospect of turning a handful of mostly empty pages into a full-fledged scene seems pretty daunting and overwhelming right now.

Ship. Maybe I should just go for a run.

I just started the first storyboard for part 2 today, and I even got some atrocious concept art done too. Needless to say, it feels good to be back in the game.

Ditto on that. Your font looks a little too normal for the fancy stone tablet background, but it's still a huge improvement across the board. And dicking around with weird fonts can be worse than having a plain font anyway, so if you do go looking for a new font choice, just make sure it's still easy to read.

Kinda sad note: Last springtime we had a very brief discussion (right here in this'yere thread!) after I brought up a comic called Alleged Whiskey. I wasn't really sold on it, but had been following it on-and-off since then out of curiosity and kinship. Just went to go have a look-see at it today, and it seems to have been wiped from the face of the earth. Even the twitter hasn't been updated since January, and the last update according to whatever was in like mid-February, but all links to it just come up as a 404 error. One of the last times I saw it, I know the creator (one of the creators?) had posted about having to reduce updates a lot for life-busy reasons. I'm sad to see it's all gone, I was looking forward to watching it improve or go anywhere.

Well, you know what they say about other ones and dust-biting. :(

oh no, Alleged Whiskey really is gone. :<

I hadn't checked its bookmark in a long time because it was... well... it was not very good. But I am still a little sad to see it pack up, it is not like the internet is gonna run out of room. It had potential, I hope that the artist returns with a reboot or a new project later.

I hope so too. Part of me wants to send them a tweet or something but I don't know if that'd be weird :(

Like, I know I talked pretty downly about it, but it really did have potential, like it was toeing the line, art-wise and story-wise, of being a good, recommendable comic.

For 2 pages I've done my line art before my speech bubbles and my composition is super off. Ugh. Never again. Why did I even do that? I don't know how some of you do it, but it's bad news for me D:

I consider the speech bubbles and line art to be the same layer, though that may be because I don't really have an option.

Years ago, I had this dumbfuck idea of drawing hte whole scene out, then using my window as a lightbox to trace the "negative" space of the panel so I could, on a separate piece of paper, put the dialogue and then cut it out and glue it to the page with the image. I forget why I thought this was at all useful. The only thing I can think of is it prevented color lines from straying into the speech bubble.

Yeah I didn't realize that "erase the color strays" was an opiton apparently.

I've cut my update schedule back to just mondays, which have the most traffic according to my stats. Gonna try to build a buffer during that time so I have more spontaneous goof off time with the lady.

PS Captain America was a good movie

Well, it's been like a frickin year but I finally managed to stop playing WoW and color a new page for my comic. Maybe I'll go for a semi-annual schedule. Finish the first story arc when I'm 80.
Oh, I'm trying a new coloring technique. I think it looks pretty good!

Welcome back, CMB!! :D

I stayed up late last night inking as much of the next 4 pages as I had sketched. The only panels I have left to do are the "bigger," long-shot/expo shot panels, since I still struggle with doing those and would rather get the "easier" panels out of the way first than have to change mindsets in between to get the other panels done.

Hopefully as I continue to work on this skill, those panels won't be as hard for me to do anymore and I can just sketch everything all at once, close-ups right out to expo shots, and get everything done faster without having to skip & come back to things later.

I'd be really pleased if I could finish all of the inking today. Then I could proceed to colors and possibly have these pages up sometime this week.

Also did some ruminating on events to come in the next chapters. They're going to be longer than I had expected but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I might take some time today to just do a very very rough, very tenuous outline of the chapters.

As part of my special plan "Operation catch the fuck up" I'm posting a page a day M-F this week and maybe next week. I should be able to do it I've got two pages ready to go and a few more drawn and ready for inking.
But when I was finishing the second page I realised I'd skipped a page so now it's a bit of a scramble to have the missing page done by tomorrow night.
On the plus side that means I've got wednesday ready to go :)
