Well, I didn't take AP tests, but I know what helped me for the "regular" tests (SAT, GRE,...). That was to go through the sample tests they sent along with the other documents. Don't know if they send those now, but it really helped me to run through the samples the night before so I knew the "flavor" of what to expect on the real test. It made the real test seem a little easier.Maybe its different for you, but I found studying for these tests to be a waste of time because of the wide variety of material they can draw questions from. Maybe it different for the AP tests because they are so focused, but I certainly wouldn't go overboard on the studying. At this point you pretty much know it or you don't. And no, I'm not suggesting you go out and party hard either! <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> So, I'd say take the sample test and do some light reviewing and try not worry about it too much (yeah, right! <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> ).What's the "Euro"?

Ranting time!
It's much different for the AP tests. The only good reading last year's test will do you is knowing what's NOT going to be on it this year.Euro = AP European History Exam. This is the only one of my four AP tests that I'm really worried about. I have to know about 600 years of one continent's history, more or less offhand. That's what I'm so worried about. The questions on this test are also notoriously strange. The main essay last year was "Analyze the role of the carnival in medieval European society."This is from an old Euro. Here are some examples of what I'll be up against on Friday.35. Which of the following had the greatest influence on the work of French Surrealist painters in the period between the First and Second World Wars?
A. Freudian psychology
B. Rules of painting developed during the Renaissance
C. Seventeenth-century Dutch landscape painters
D. Nineteenth-century theological speculation
E. The clean, sharp lines of African art37. Vesalius and other sixteenth-century physicians, who made important contributions to medical knowledge, had which of the following in common?
A. A realization that microscopic infection caused disease
B. A heavy reliance on hospitals to treat serious injuries
C. Knowledge of a primitive system of vaccinations
D. Anatomical knowledge based on dissection of apes
E. A willingness to challenge Greco-Roman medical authorityWe've also been using a political/military history textbook all year, in preparation for a test that's mostly social/economic history.
[/ranting]I could probably handle it. I just feel so unprepared for it... like I've been studying the wrong stuff all year. This is the main reason why I'm so worried about it. I mean, I memorized military actions used in the Thirty Years' War and in Napoleon's campaigns! And to look at those old practice tests and not see ONE military question on ANY of them, but find a whole bunch of social stuff you've never heard of ... it rattles you.[This message has been edited by Shiro (edited 05-09-2001).]

I took AP English , AP Calc A , and AP Psychology. I passed 'em all (some better than others), but that was near (n) years ago (don't wanna scare the kids). I didn't really do anything special to study for English or Psych (just study EVERYTHING for a week, y'know), and Calc was practice test after practice test (I hate Calc).

I took the English Lit on monday. Know literary terms for part one, know how to analyze text and annotate as you go along; I can't tell you much else. For the open question on part two (essays), where you have to think of a book to use (they usually provide a list of books to use), all you really need to know is "the Color Purple" and a few Shakespeare plays; they have themes that cover everything anyone could ever possibly ask.Tomorrow, I'm taking the U.S. history. I'm pretty nervous. All I can tell you is, look through past exams. They use some of the same questions in many exams.Another thing: you can't have more than three of the same answer in a row (i.e. three Cs or Bs). If you end up having four of the same answer in the row, you've done something wrong.

I AM FINISHED!You know that nightmare where you're taking a test, you open the packet and you realize that you don't know jack about anything on the test?I just lived it. <IMG SRC="http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/tongue/1zdead.gif"> Though part of it may have been my lack of knowledge of European history. I tend to absorb only stuff I like, so I know a lot about the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, and some about art and literature at any period, but if you ask me anything else, I'll stare at you blankly.Advice for the Euro in future years:
A full fourth of the multiple choice was on post World War II history. Especially on the independence movements in Eastern Europe. Guess how far our class ever got?The test is almost all social history. Only about 10 percent of the questions had to do with politics. None of the essays were political. Know your causes and effects.Wow. A lot of people took these things.
I fought the English Lit on Monday too. Just remember, the entire state of South Carolina takes the AP U.S. test. It's a graduation requirement. Lemme say that again .. the entire state of South Carolina. ...What was the DBQ this year? About Calc. . . This may be an urban legend, but I heard there's a calculus test that revolves once every five years which contains equations that are still unsolved. I know two people who claim to have gotten it, but they may have just been stupid. Does anybody know if that's true or not?More unconfirmable stuff about calculus: Isaac Newton supposedly developed calc in a summer. Not basic calculus - the whole thing.

Well, I'm not taking my books to class this week, I stopped doing homework last week, I get to miss two of my final five religion classes for AP tests, and I'm taking a big fat folder full of Ancient Messages pages to school. Does that qualify?Five days of classes left.

I've had an advanced case of senioritis since the first day of school this year. I showed up and informed all the kids in my homeroom how many days we had left. I don't know, I never really liked school in the first place. Not even kindergarten. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">And I was asking because the AP U.S. teacher at my school, who's a great guy but very high-strung, heard that the time period was 1920-present and promptly developed a third ulcer. So I was just wondering.And at my school, the U.S. History test got flagged because the school official who was proctoring it can't count and gave everyone ten extra minutes.
