9th Anniversary for The Mansion of E
9th Anniversary for The Mansion of E
So, on Monday the 16th I'll have reached nine years of daily updates on the Mansion of E. Glad I'm still here. Glad that Comic Genesis is still more or less here. If both are still true a year from now, maybe I'll work on more of a celebration. By then I'll have maybe finally ended the Endless Day...

Guess I'll save japanesegirlraisingglass.gif for this time next year then.
In any case, congrats.

Wow, 9 years. That's crazy. I started my first comic around the same time, though I didn't keep it for that long.
Still, I agree that I'm glad this place still exists. The heyday of webcomics have come and gone, but still this place remains, as do the people whose lives were touched by it.

I'm kind of curious to know the secret to such productivity, too. I've searched, but never found it.

A child born when you started your comic would now be old enough to make their own comic. Stick THAT feather in your hat.

I think I started Decypher around the same time you started Mansion of E. way to keep going!

Thanks all.
Various answers...
Yes, I do get bored and frustrated at times, and think about just chucking the whole thing. But it helps that I'm following an on-going (however glacial) plot, with a wide cast of characters and locales. I couldn't do a standard newspaper comic, rehashing the same gags over and over.
If you want to be artistically productive, have no life. Some cartoonist once commented that we are all white-haired gnomes laboring forever in darkness.
My readership has remained fairly steady over the years, at least according to the hit-counter service I use. Part of the problem is that I don't do much advertising, at least none that I paid for. Plus my strip is weird, and is never going to be a popular hit. I accept that. I wanted to tell this story, and I'll probably spend the rest of my life doing it. Tho there is an ending, and I may reach it some decade.
And there are still a lot of webcomics out there. What's really died is Internet forums, replaced with Facebook and whatnot.
