Food thread.
I'm really tempted to skip my class today because I'm SO EXCITED TO MAKE SOUP. I'm going to be making pasta fagioli, and have been looking up all different recipes and little tips for making it. Already have the ingredients, now just have to wait til I get back from class.
I'm way more excited than any person has a right to be about making soup
Are you cooking anything fun today? Want to share any tasty recipes or pictures of your food porn?

Re: Food thread.
Inspired by a pirate themed The One Show I've recently been making ships buiscuits. Flour, water and a little bit of salt mixed together to a dough, separated and baked for half an hour. They taste unremarkable to say the least but its peaked my buiscuit making interest now I know its possible to make something edible so simply. I'm going to start experimenting in adding things to the mixture that you'd usually put in baking things (milk/butter whatever) just to see what happens. Plus I feel very in character making the pirate equivelent of dwarf bread.

Well, as to be expected, I didn't like the way it turned out. Luckily everyone else who had a taste of it did, so it won't go to waste, and I guess it was a good "learning" experience Oh well. So much for vegetables.

I microwaved back this morning. Then I ate an apple and some cheese.
Followed by a handmade Belgian chocolate. Just kidding, I eat my Belgian chocolates after dinner, not breakfast.

Oh man. I have so many leftovers now and really liked sauteeing the onions and garlic. I wish I had another onion so I could try making something else. Who knows what the future will bring.

Swapping water with milk makes scones. Rather boring scones granted, but still.robotthepirate wrote:Inspired by a pirate themed The One Show I've recently been making ships buiscuits. Re: Food thread.
Been making homemade cappuccinos lately. They're pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.
I also make some pretty rockin' smoothies. Here's a Pineapple & Papaya one I made recently. And yes, that is a Medieval Times crown in the corner, because I'm 12, apparently.

Sunday mornings I like to have what I call my Cholesterol Special - eggs and bacon with OJ and toast. I cook the bacon first, then fry the eggs in the bacon grease. May be bad for you, but boy oh boy is it tasty!

I'd be up for that, considering I'm a coffee fiend 'n' all. What's the gist of the recipe you've worked out?IVstudios wrote:Been making homemade cappuccinos lately. They're pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.
Ooh, I have to try that sometime!peterabnny wrote:Sunday mornings I like to have what I call my Cholesterol Special - eggs and bacon with OJ and toast. I cook the bacon first, then fry the eggs in the bacon grease. May be bad for you, but boy oh boy is it tasty!

Re: Food thread.
I adore soda, and when I was in the bookstore today I perchanced to notice a soda entitled "Big Red." Now my first reaction was "That's fucking gross, why is there a soda flavored like the cinnamon gum." I was pretty tempted to buy it anyway, since I do like the gum, and hey, mahybe it wasn't so bad. Well, I looked at it, and it was actually normal fruit flavors. Okay, whatever. So I bought it, took it home, cracked it open- eeeyuch. Waaay too medicinal. Gonna have to mix it with something else later to help the medicine go down.

Hot and frothy, just like your mom… wait, that's gross D:
Nothing special, just 4oz of espresso (made with my Senso coffee maker and a Coffee Duck) and 4oz milk heated in a pan and whipped with a whisk until it's hot and frothy. Then just some sugar to taste and sprinkle cinnamon on top.LibertyCabbage wrote:I'd be up for that, considering I'm a coffee fiend 'n' all. It's probably not technically a cappuccino since I know the espresso/milk/foam ratios in traditional cappuccino's are pretty rigid, but it's the best I can do without spending hundreds of dollars on milk steamers and espresso makers and such.
