I think the problem with PITA is a lot of their tactics only really appeal to people who are already on their side, and largely come off as smug/annoying/ridiculous to most other people. I get the idea of using shock to get people to notice and talk about your cause (which they are definitely good at), but I would argue that their tactics do more harm to their cause than good. If someone wants to have an actual conversation about animal rights they get brushed off by the mainstream as "just one of those PITA nuts."Phact0rri wrote:You should read up on exactly what Animal Wefare is, and how it differs from Animal rights, Animal Liberation, and animal abilition. PETA does a great job as an animal welfare company. Animal welfare is all about making little battles in the hope that maybe, just maybe, one day in a billion years from now, animals will be treated as living creatures as apposed to property. so instead of taking on the task of actually making things better, they spin campaigns on things like giving water to a cow on her way to the slaughter house. cause I mean if your sentenced to death in a place that makes a concentration camp look like the a four star hotel, at least you got your thirst quenched!RobboAKAscooby wrote:PETA is a joke, a bunch of self-righteous fascists who spend far more on advertising than they do on bettering the cause of animal welfare. I make my donations to small charities I know are making a difference.
It doesn't matter how legitimate an argument is, if it's being delivered by an annoying asshole, no one is going to listen.
