ComicReality: A dropdown for the Slice of Life

Postby Phact0rri on Fri Mar 28, 2008 8:59 am

Is your comic taken from Reallife? Does your comic mostly resemble what could constitute as reality? Are you interested in joining a group of comics just like yours in a cramped dropdown where readers can select comics just like yours to promote comics of a similar genre?

err... where was I... oh yes.... I'm looking to see if anyone is interesting in joining the new ComicReality dropdown. Its a new Dropdown... so we need to see if there are any takers.

if your interested answer these questions

1. Your Comics Name

2. your comic's URL

3. how exactly is your comic 'a slice of life'?

4.4. Your comics rating (if not 14)

and add the following code to your page
Code: Select all
<script language="JavaScript"
 src="http://decypher.keenspace.com/scripts/comicreality.js"
 type="text/JavaScript" /> <br />
</script>

sounds interesting.

"In A Nutshell"

nutshellcomics.comicgenesis.com

I put my own twisted spin on those weird news stories that seem to fill in the space not occupied by 'Real' news or entertainment.

I have labeled my site as PG. In looking through the description of the various ratings, it seemed closest to what I already had completed and what I might come up with in the future.

Yay dropdowns!

1. Dreamaniac

2. http://dreamaniaccomic.comicgenesis.com

3. Based on the actual events (and several totally made up ones) of the life of Jake the Dreamaniac and his friends, this comic is out to prove that real life is just as freaky as the stuff in our dreams.

4. PG. I like being able to let my kid sister and my other family read it without feeling nervous.

definitely want to join this one

1. I Feel Twitchy

2.http://meghasissues.comicgenesis.com

3. I Feel Twitchy is the funnier moments of my life taken down and presented for whoever wants to read them. All of it really happened. No random monsters or anything like that. Sounds boring but college has a way of making things VERY interesting.

4. PG-13 mild cussing and innuendo

1. Deer Me

2. deerme.comicgenesis.com

3. Please do not be fooled that the people have cartoon-animal features; the events are usually based on very real events in my life or the life of someone I know. The most common comments my comic receives are "That happened to me the other day," "I know just what you mean," "I can completely relate to that," and "So true." The comic follows the lives of three roommates and their friends, reveling in the humor of routine day-to-day.

4. Rating is "Everyone", I guess? Certainly safe for 14-under.

How do I find out if I am part of the ComicReality dropdown and how do I add it to my site? Thank you!

the script hasn't been uploaded yet, as I was waiting to get enough together to make the dropdown. the script should be up today or tomorrow. just waiting for the server to connect properly.

EDIT:
script is up now. I haven't tested it... so if there's any problems let me know.

I put the dropdown code on my site, but see a blank spot where the dropdown should be.

I waited a few days to mention this because there have been a lot of problems with ComicGenesis this week, but ComicGenesis seems to (mostly) be updating properly now and I still do not see the dropdown on my page where the code is. Has anyone else posted the dropdown code into a comic site? If so, then did it work for you?

Only a queue of 900? That is short compared to the queue size for this past week.

I see the dropdown working on Deer Me now, as you mentioned. Thank you for all your work on it!

If this is still active I'd like to sign up.

1. Red City

2. http://redcity.comicgenesis.com

3. The main reason why Red City belongs in this genre is because of the comics in the Autaxia Collective http://redcity.comicgenesis.com/Collective.html which hosts several short stories about the cast members.

4.4. Web MA

1. Sueños del Sur

2. http://sds.comicgenesis.com/

3. It's about the life of four young siblings, their family, their friends, their adventures and their dreams. Okay, so it gets quite surrealistic at times, and sometimes it exaggerates things a bit, but it's mostly realistic.

4. Web PG. It could have been G but:
- There are some scenes with cartoon violence. Nothing major actually, they all get better in the end. Also, some martial arts practice. Think "The Karate Kid"-level at most.
- Some of the kids have dirty mouths ("What the heck do you want?"). F-bombs aren't dropped, though.
- There are references to a major earthquake in which a lot of people died.

I'll add the code to my site during this week. It's getting late.
