Ha. That never occurred to me. I guess I wasn't too resourceful when I was little.

It's your own fault for "caring" and having "emotions" and "liking people". The only thing that is your saving grace from having the "evil" of your "evil scientist" title revoked is that your family is as evil as you.

Re: meticulator.
Lemonman with his assistant Lemon Aid?
The part about his head turning into a lemon makes me think of those old Gushers commercials, you know the ones, where the kids would eat the gushers and then their head would turn into the shape of the fruit it was flavored after. A friend of mine in elementary school, who at the time was deeply superstitious (and eventually became our valedictorian) would not eat Gushers and was in fact fearful when others around him would, as he was always expecting people's heads to start becoming all distended and fruit-shaped.
Come to think of it, I wonder how many kids were turned away from Gushers as a result of those commercials.

No, I managed to set it up so life gives me assault rifles. Not everyone gets that option, but having the assault rifle either way is a definite help.KWill wrote:Wait, they make you buy your own assault rifles?! Though there's some consolation.

She's no Diana Rigg, but who is.
Anyway, do you already have a comic or is it in the gestation period? What are some funny picture books you are interested in and how has it influenced how you do things?

I dunno. I think I prefer Uma. Then again, I'm a sucker for a Botticelli face and an ample bosom.Yeahduff wrote:[/img]

I was referring to the other Avengers. Y'know, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor--that bunch.

Re: meticulator.
Uma Thurman creeps me out a little. I keep thinking her eyes are trying to break free of her face.
I like the one with all the teddy bears though. Who's that in the chair?
I've got two comics in my head, one is a comedy-drama called Cecrops High set in a hihg school in ancient Greece with all the characters being from Greek mythology. The other, which I'll start once I feel confident in my ability to tell it, is called Once and Future, a fantasy-scifi about the reawakening of King Arthur.
I've always loved Superman. That particular character has acted as a moral centre and figure of aspiration since before I could walk. Later on, I got into the rest of the DC bullpen. I'll just devour anything DC post-1980. I didn't get into Marvel until after I was familiar with DC. Mostly, I like their 1960s stuff. It really speaks to the child in me and reminds me what superheroes should be. More recently, I started reading Vertigo publications. Y: The Last Man and Fables were my first exposure to adult-orientated non-superhero comics. They opened my eyes to the graphic novel as a more versatile storytelling medium. I then got into Sandman and Lucifer. Both series blew me away. Some of the best things I've ever read. Once and Future is inspired by them with its mythological story style, but with the out and out heroism of Superman and the early Marvel stuff.
Cecrops High, which I'm using partially for practice, isn't consciously inspired by anything, but the interest in mythology probably came from Sandman and the storytelling style is most likely based on the two webcomics that got me into the genre: Gunnerkrigg Court and Questionable Content.

Definitely gestation period. I'm still teaching myself to draw. Once I'm satisfied with my mastery of the pencil, I'll start actually comicking.Anyway, do you already have a comic or is it in the gestation period? Re: meticulator.
You should just teach yourself to draw by drawing comics. Most of the folks around here did it that way. Anyway, why wait? If it's a good idea, and you're half-able at the storytelling, that'll prop up where the artwork is lacking, and you will definitely get better at drawing over time.
That is my unsolicited advice for the day!

Re: meticulator.
Yeah, drawing actual comics is always the best way to learn to draw. In comics you get much wider array of gestures, expressions, situations, camera angles; you get to practice consistency, to make your characters look the same every time; you get to draw things that you probably wouldn't get to otherwise (like maybe cars, animals, backgrounds), and you get to learn how to use narrative language.
Of course once you out your drawings to the world, you open up to various kinds of negative comments and that's not always easy to handle. But on the plus side, some of those comments are bound to be helpful.

Re: meticulator.
All righty then. Thanks for the advice. Comics shall be my main practise method. I think I shall post many of them here. But I still don't want to start my actual comic until I've got some confidence in my ability.
