I saw 9 the other day. It wasn't quite what I thought it would be (I totally pictured it something like post-apocalyptic D&D with sock puppets, since the previews had what appeared to be a wizard, a rogue, and one with a buster sword) but it does have the distinction of my new favorite female character of all time, 7. Its a 3-way tie though, along with Yumiko Readman and Maggie.

Saw the first half of "Die Grenze" (The Border), which is a German made for TV two-parter, yesterday and it was decent. Excellent compared to other German made for TV movies. Plot is centered around the poorhouse state of Federal Republic going nuts after Al Qaeda conducts a simultaneous bombing of several of the world's largest oil refineries, driving the oil and gasoline prices up, in turn driving food prices up, and causing all sorts of desperation. All in time for the state elections so the neo-nazis and neo-communists vie for control of the streets along with the hearts and minds while the chancellor is faced with the decision of which nutcase she's going to allow to run the state when it inevitably splits itself off of Germany.

HELL NO. I laugh my ASS off and turn it into a drinking game. It's like everything in that movie is coated in gasoline, it's awesome.

Also, watched "The Man with Two Brains" a couple night ago while eating dinner. Yay for 99 cent iTunes rentals. Movie was HILARIOUS, but its a Steve Martin classic so what else would you expect. NOW GET THAT CAT OUT OF HERE!

Well, Predator is one of the most stunningly accurate portrayals ever of what its like to be in the military.

I watched the 3 Death Note movies. Much better ending than the anime and manga. Code Geass did a much better job of what the Death Note manga felt like it was going for. First 2 are really just one loooong movie cut in half. 3rd movie was a bit weak but I liked there being more L stuff.

I've been told, in seriousness, by a Navy person who grew up in a dual Navy family, that the most accurate movie representation of life in the Navy is Down Periscope. Yes, it was my best friend Jason. Knowing not too much about the Navy, but having been exposed to them on occasion...I'm inclined to agree.

7 was pretty awesome, as are Yumiko and Maggie. Good taste! Although I also like Millie from Trigun.

Watched 'Ku Fu Panda'. I thought it was just cute. Great for the kids. Ryan loved it.

Finally got a hold of 'Zombieland' so that's tonight.

I found an institutional sized can of tapioca pudding from 2002 in the pantry. I totally ate the whole thing. Most military films and games (Star Trek its like the entire ship is just officers, Commander Shepard being like the only person to ever go ashore for Mass Effect fans) in general scew heavily towards the officer side of the military so my enlistedness makes me a bit biased. But yup, Down Periscope is fairly accurate.

Maggie's terrible crying (SOB SOB) was so horribly endearing. Her taking out the paper terminator solo just cemented her awesomeness to me. Yumiko just made you want to ruffle her hair every which way. 7 had an awesome hat. And a halberd thing. She was like some kind of burlap ninja. Millie got assaulted by a priest. D: Who'd have thought sandwiches could be used as some kind of horrible foreplay >_<

You're just saying that because you're in it.

OR WILL YOU TRY TO DENY IT?
I saw you in there with your comic books

But no it's really a freakin' awesome movie.

Oh yeah I saw 2012 as well.

Did you know that subatomic particles can mutate? And that neutrinos can boil water thousands of feet below the earth's surface "just like microwaves" and yet not cook all life on earth? And the earth can crack open destroying a grocery store without causing any shockwaves to collapse buildings surrounding it?

APPARENTLY SO. FEAR THE NEUTRINOS.

Finally saw Sherlock Holmes. It was very good! Although I have come to the conclusion that Holmes is Batman.

Actually...Downey Jr would have made a GREAT Batman. Huh...

I watched Iron Man again last night. It really is an awesome movie. Maybe they should just redo all the superhero movies and have them all star Downey.

As I am to shitty war movies trying to portray "what its really like", scientists are to "the world is DOOMED" movies.

I admit, I'm a bit late in movie related matter... but I did resee Grumpy Old Men last week. You know, one of those light comedy done in the early nineties? Quite amusing and it makes me want to put dead fishes in people's car.

I rented it, started watching it and gave up after second or third musical number. Too late-90ies-Disniesque.

Hmm, did Guy Ritchie not manage to ruin it?

It's very much an action movie, but there is some nice dectetiving in there. Holmes is, I think, a but more rough-and-tumble than in the books, but I also think it's done well.

Jude Law is like the best Watson ever, though.
