Comicgenesis appears to be down...

Post by Mintcondition »

All links to my site, Comicgenesis, or any other comics hosted on Comicgenesis aren't working right now...

Does anyone know what's going on?

No idea what's going on. I haven't checked any of the comic sites but I know the FTP is down right now. Forums are running fine though... Odd.

The forums and comic accounts are on separate servers.

Well that's obvious, I was just pointing it out that it figures the forums would still be up so that we could come here and complain lol...

it's a bit too soon for the usual total server meltdown, so i suspect it's more a connection issue (prolly something as trite as a power failure where ever the server is or some such)

The timing of this is amazingly terrible. Today is my strip guest-starring Zortic and Melonpool, from their respective webcomics. I got permission from Mark Mekkes and Steve Troop to use the characters, and they both have linked to my site from their blogs. Fortunately, both of them got to see the strip before things went kerblooey. But I hope this gets fixed very very soon.

At this point it appears to be a DOS attack that caused the server to either run out of memory or "lockup" to the point of non-responsiveness.

I'm updating the respective apache/php on it, FTP is "up" but web is down.

If you don't have a personal backup of your site, please do so at this time. We're trying to do backups ourselves but we cannot currently guarantee we'll able to recover from a crash like we had with the old Schlock server.

Bummer.
Sites seem fine now.

Is FTP still down though? Can't seem to log in.

I am guessing all the brand new comic sites are wiped... My new one just got approved yesterday.

In addition, there seems to be something wrong with the updater from Siteadmin. Maybe it's just the encoding for the JPEG or maybe it's only happening on my computer, but it seems to be doing something screwy with the page, shifting the panels over and screwing with the brightness:

My comic didn't update today and now I can't get into it through the ftp to force it, nor is QuickAdmin working to force the update either.

Edit: Got comic updated, but the ftp is still not working.

And just as I finally figured out how to upload and found the 1st page...
Will put a banner here when I reach 20 pages. More importantly, though, is that I have no idea how to make one. ^^'

I just hope the FTP servers are back up soon...not being able to log in to that is quite frustrating...also, my blog won't update it either. I have a blogger account that I have embedded onto the main page of my site and it's updated via FTP. So since the servers are down, it's not updating. It keeps saying error. My new comic for today updated just fine which I wasn't expecting, but I'm not complaining.
