How Do I Delete My Comic, Account, Etc.?

Backstory: When I was first starting my comic I was looking around for different comic hosting sites, and I was stuck between ComicGenesis and SmackJeeves. I decided to go with ComicGenesis because I thought the name would be less confusing to people who are looking for my webcomic's URL. I made an account here, only to find out that I had to wait 7 days to get started. So, I decided to go to SmackJeeves, and I am very happy with my choice. I finally got my email saying that my account was ready here, so I figured I should delete it, so that I wouldn't be taking up extra space on ComicGenesis.

Problem: I have had numerous problems trying to delete my comic and account. For one, I can log in sometimes, and not others. The time I got it to log in, I didn't stay logged in. Also, the log in page and control panel (what I've seen of it) are very confusing to users (in my opinion). I tried to manage my account, and it told me to log in again (so there are separate log ins for your comic, your forum account, and editing your comic? WHY?!), and when I tried, it wouldn't let me. I read here that many people are having that problem, though, so I guess it's a common one.

Question: Can I get a step-by-step of the easiest way to delete my comic and account?

The CG system is quite complaex when compared to other werbcomic hosts but the reason for it is that CG gives the author a lot more control over how their comic looks. I'm hoping that other webcomic hosts will increase the number of options available to their users soon.

In order to delete your account you need to use FTP to log directly into your comic account (as opposed to your forum account) and delete the sample comic in the public_html/comics folder. If there are no comics in that folder then your account will automatically be deleted after 90 days. There is no "delete" button which you can click.

Thanks for your help. It still won't let me log in, though. If I'm inactive for a long time, but I do still have the sample comic up, will they delete it?

In theory, the rule is meant to be "accounts with 3 comics or less get deleted after 90 days" but I have seen a few accounts with a single comic that seem to hang around. I haven't asked the admins to find out if this has changed or not.

When you say "it won't let you sign in" are you referring to SiteAdmin or your comic's FTP account?

If you want to delete something, then you will need to enter via FTP using your FTP username (normally the name of your comic) and your FTP password (that you may need to set up - instructions how in the CGWiki). You don't use your Forum details to log into FTP.

If you are trying to log into SiteAdmin note that you need to use your forum name and password BUT SiteAdmin isn't working properly and it won't let new members in no matter what you do. Not that it really matters in this case since you are trying to delete your account and you can't do that via SiteAdmin.

I have not logged into my comic since 2004. That's 4 years. I only just realised it is still up, and I really want it deleted.

STrRedWolf, please delete my comic. I've spent the better part of an hour going through the forums trying to figure it all out, I cannot log in, I would just ask that you delete my comic for me. Please.

It is Zee Diabolical Mysteries. I should be able to provide proof that I'm the owner (email address, comic images) if necessary.

Hey, I'm in the exact same position. I clicked the little "x" in the CG login thing, and now my comic "Galacticus" seems to still be around even though I can't access it. I've emailed the site admins four times with no reply. My comic hasn't been updated in 5 years. Some one please delete it for me.

If you've updated your comic like one time or something it will get purged eventually.

what is the error you get when you attempt to log in?
