I am SO FUCKING PISSED right now. Weeks ago, I lost my 3x0 Rapidograph, which effectively put a halt to production of probably the strongest drawing I've done in about five years. I waited patiently, until today, when I received my financial aid check for the quarter. So, with cash in my pocket, I head to my wonderful local art store on a supply run for my classes, and the ONLY item that I buy which is not on the class supply list is a replacement nib for my pen. It costs $20, and they keep the pens and nibs behind the register counter, meaning I didn't actually touch the product when I bought it. The guy at the register sees that the packaging looks beat up, and decides to give me a 20% discount on it, which was nice of him, but I should have gotten the discount anyway, because I am a student. The nib was the only discounted item, but what's a few bucks? I shrug and leave it. I'm happy. I got a new pen!

So, I get home, and I start putting my school art supplies together. I fish out my Rapidograph nib, and the package looks like it was opened and then taped back together. Then, I notice that the ring on the nib is red, a color code which signifies it is actually a size 2, five sizes larger than the 3x0. I furrow my brow, and decide to open it up to inspect it, just in case it's a strange coding snafu, and I've got a red 3x0 in my hands. After all, why would I suspect I was sold a wrongly repackaged product by my trusted local art store? Well, I open the package, it was clearly opened before, I take out the nib, and I uncap it. Sure enough, it's a 2. Fuck.

It's then that I notice the kicker. Not only is it a 2, but it's BROKEN. It's missing the parts necessary to make the fucking nib actually work! I paid $16 for a busted, non-functioning pen nib, all because I trusted my local art store. I should have examined it, but damn it, I have never had any problems with any products at my trusted local art store; that's why it's my trusted local art store. Now I have to go back and get my money back, because I'm sure that if they sold me this crap, it's because they don't actually have what I need. I'd rather just have the correct nib. I really wanted to finish that drawing.

I was so stoked, and now I'm so bummed.

I'm in my social media class. What does that mean? Its a whole class about blogging and using youtube and facebook. I'm not a web programmer. I'm not learning how to MAKE a social network. This is literally just a class about twittering and tubing and blogging.

That's probably the saddest thing since mandatory college english classes.

If I have kids maybe I should homeschool them. Image

The idea is that we'll be learning about self promotion, but the fact that we're not learning about real marketing in this class, but specifically just how to update a twitter or blog really chaffs my nuts, which is the name for my homework assignment blog by the way.

My mom had to take a class like that (she's a returning student so this is a current class and not like years ago) She had to make a myspace and an IMVU account.

Ridiculous.

I've been sick for a few days and haven't eaten...I'm better now but too weak to do anything...yay....

Speaking of, I'm really cheesed that all new students has to take a College 101 class. I'd be more understandable if it were a seminar, but no. It's a freaking class. Honestly, I knew exactly what to expect and what my responsibilities were the very first week. I'm not stupid. I wanted to be treated like an adult for years now, since I already felt like I exhibited many of the facets in which adults should have. Essentially, College 101 = This is how to be an adult 101. Anyone who thinks college is a place to party should really not go at all and take a crash course in real life, then come back if they're really serious about school.

(To be honest, I'm not a college person myself. I'm going through a certification program. What I'm trying to say is do whatever, but make sure you're mature enough for it.)

That's the saddest class I ever heard. I suppose that's one of the many big ways internet social networking makes money.

"Surely my other classes will be better"
Hah hah
I spent months circumventing a no foreigners rule, fighting with admissions, finally showing up 2 weeks late after finally having gotten a visa sorted out, only to find they let an English kid in with 0 difficulties. She coasted in on my beaten path.
I have to write a fucking blog for a grade in social media. I have to write a goddam essay on my favorite youtube video in my film class. Which are the two must assfuckingtarded homework assignments I've ever heard of coming from a college.
This was supposed to be a course for experienced film makers, people who've done this stuff before. I can't help but feel that I worked my ass off to get to somewhere awesome, only to get a golden shower at the end. It's like.... if Indy finally opened the Ark of the Covenant after all that shit and it was only full of cigarette butts. And unless things take an awesome turn for the better soon, I'm taking my couple grand a semester to somewhere that isn't a fucking joke of an educational establishment, because I've been jerked around one time too many now.

KR- wow. See, I started reading your one post, because I was gonna say "Hey same thing is happening here!" but then I kept reading and no, in fact, your situation sucks loads more than mine.

Basically my problem was that I needed to take a certain writing class as a journalism major requirement (which I don't even want anymore but that's another can of peas). The class, when you sign up to take it, is presented as PROFESSIONAL WRITING(for the web). However, the actual curriculum is more like Professional writingFOR THE WEB!!!11! And it's all learning how to do coding (which isn't so bad, just really unexpected), and how to blog and how to present yourself well in order to make it in today's world of the internet. The teacher is nice and even the other kids in the class are nice, I just hate the curriculum so much. And I feel like it's too late to switch out of it now, and that even if I did, it would wind up being a requirement to get a communication major (which I'm switching to) anyway and I'd have to take it all over again.

But yeah... and the youtube assignment? That almost sounds like a class that people get excited about because it'd get them an easy A. (Which irritates me also, I feel like with the amount of money that gets poured into going to college you should make the best of the educational opportunity but that's my goody-two-shoes nerd coming out I suppose) But is that what led you to post the other topic you just started?

Oh, what happened?
Long story short I showed up for class one day and she started demanding transcripts of all contact I'd had with the students in the class, accusing me of not holding my office hours(which I had been), being a bad mentor(I have a 3.78 GPA, am a member of an honor society and have been on the Presidents List honor roll every semester but no right I'm the bad mentor!), speaking to her in a condescending manor, calling her stupid.....it got very weird and childish and I barely said two words the whole time but the next day I went to the head of the program and resigned. Got to keep my fancy embroidered shirt though.

God damn, Robby. I'm sorry your college is being such an asshole. Image

I probably posted this before but I'm rather excited about the code I finally hammered into place for a comic update engine thing. Still working on the back end (password-protected piece of website where you can upload/update/add/delete comics, etc) but the simple form I have going right now works perfectly, hooray! And this one allows future updates, so if I ever have a buffer it'll be no problem. >_>

Well, I just can't seem to find a job anywhere - specially now that I desperately need one and have recently applied to so many retails (like EB Games).

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT SHIT? That drive officially was the second most painful mission I've ever done, and it's only half over. The FOB I'm at sucks because its one of those out of the way places that serves as a small outpost in the middle of nowhere. Makes me appreciate my own base with its buildings and air conditioned rooms and dining facility that has ice cream and cake.

I look forward greatly to my return to Adder.

Same here. I have about $700 in bank accounts, but I still want to get a job so I can get people Christmas gifts (can't start too early), pay people back, certification tests, and as a buffer just in case I fall below a 3.0 GPA, in which case I'll lose my scholarship and have to pay for my classes AND everything else I mentioned. Luckily, community college isn't much, and I'll be taking only 8 credits (I sure hope those people were right saying that I would still be enrolled full time due to being in a certification program). So 8 times 75 will be $600, which will just cover my classes (books, however).

So yeah. I need a job bad, even if it's seasonal.

I got no money at all in my bank and my parents can't pay for my education either. If I can't get a job, I'm proly fudged. My comic isn't give me any profits either. I might as well just ask for loans that I'll never pay.
