Joyous day! The Czech Senate ratified the Reform Treaty of Lisbon. Now all we need to do is convince the Irish to vote yes...

When one of the kids complains about it. THAT IS HOW. Kids playing around do not go and complain to a teacher. Kids getting bullied do.
Two words and an expletive for this school. Zero fucking tolerance. When you receive a report of bullying, you better get involved. You get involved so deep that you know every little detail of both sides of the story like it was happening to you, and then you fucking do something about it.

You want the faculty to start taking this shit seriously? Then you grab them by the balls and you fucking twist like you're screwing in a light bulb. You go to their administrative superiors, and you file formal complaints on EVERY. SINGLE. INCIDENT. Cite how the administration in its entirety failed to get involved on multiple occasions, and that your family is considering legal action against the bullies, their families, the faculty, and the administration if they do not do something about it. And you be ready to go above THEIR heads if you do not receive a swift reply, as well as to local media because nothing gets govt. moving like the risk of the news airing dirty laundry.

If there's anything I know, it's that the way to get a bureaucracy moving is to start up high and let the shit roll down. People do NOT like having their bosses go "WTF is this bullshit? You fix this or you're fucking fired." In the Army, I've seen entire chains of command relieved because of actions way below them. I imagine other bureaucracies are no different.

I can not imagine what worthless fucks run that school, but they deserve to be fired. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, GTFO.

This is unforgivable in any school system. Contact that teacher's superiors, or if that doesn't work, the superiors' superiors. If that still doesn't work, you have every reason to sue. Even a fairly average lawyer should have no problem proving your case.

Last night was the first performance of the last play of the school year. It was also my first ever leading role, and the whole thing went AMAZINGLY AWESOME. The play is called The Foreigner, doubt you've heard of it, but it's one of the funniest plays I've ever read and the funnest I've ever gotten to perform in. It helps that most of my scenes in Act 2 are a large helping of ham and scenery. I absolute love going OVER THE TOP!

I agree with take the issue from the top down with the bullying. Been bullied myself in high school because of being smart and having 'ears'.

My little sisters started getting bullied in elementary school. Only took having my brother who looks like he plays professional american football - 300+ and built like a brick shithouse - to pick her up and say to the little punk(s) 'So, I hear you're messing with my sister'. She hasn't had a issue since.

On the one hand, if I hadn't been picked on and bullied like I was from elementary school up through high school, I probably wouldn't have become the highly successful person I am today.
On the other hand, I look back and realize the only reason I drove myself so hard was out of pure revenge and that I almost was a "Columbine kid".
It still follows me to this day, and I had it out about a year ago with one person who'd tormented me all through high school for reasons that I still to this day do not know. I pretty much told them, after they'd returned to their old ways and harassed me on Facebook, "Fuck you. You were a dick in high school but I didn't have the balls then to say it. Now, I gave you one shot to show you'd matured, but clearly you've failed. Ultimatum time. You do not contact me again until *I* have contacted you. You are persona non grata, and if I even THINK you're trying to get to me through a mutual acquaintance I have no problem doing the same to them." I have not heard back from him, nor has anyone ever mentioned a word of him to me.

Bullying is something I have zero tolerance for. There's the joking around that involves having "tough skin" and then there's plain cruel. When its a one way exchange, it's bullying. When it turns physical, it's definitely bullying. In the adult world we call it ASSAULT and its a CRIME.

At the time, my response to columbine was to think, "maybe now someobody will actually realise how dangerous and destructive bullying is, and start actually listening to children before they go from victim to victimiser"

Nope. all we got was a lot of antigun, anti-video game hysteria.

idiots.

well after the couple kids killed themselves back to back from bullying there's been talk of reform. Which I hope they do, its ridiculous. Bullying is no fun, and it always got violent when I was being bullied.

I went to a public high school that you had to choose to take a test to get into, and score high on the test to boot. We didn't have bullying - you were only there because you wanted to be. Even our class druggie is now a brain surgeon. It was the very best and most rewarding four years of my school career.

But, I went to a completely different junior high school prior to that, and was bullied mercillessly and without support from the school until I snapped and beat a kid so badly he went into the emergency room with detached retinas and blood loss. The kid had thrown the first punch though, and there were 300 witnesses to it, so I was completely in the clear. It was also the 1980's - a different time. The bullies left me alone after that.

I really don't want to think about what would have happened if I hadn't snapped on that kid though.

Bullying is a very, very bad thing. It breeds the worst in both the bullies and the bullied, and only the bullies get a release.

Hm, I can't say that I was ever bullied seriously or on constant basis. The worst I got was occasionally being picked on in school in Bosnia because I had Serbian accent, or when I moved from Bosnia and had some trouble integrating into a new school, but I guess we just don't have such distinctive, "institutionalized" class system in our schools, I mean you can spot a jock, a nerd, a popular girl and whatever other stereotypical roles there are, but they could all hang out together instead of strictly sticking to their groups. I dunno, suppose today it might be different, but that was the case when I was going to grade and high school.

Nevertheless I think that bullying is just degeneration of the school system. Seriously, in period in life when kids have to learn some values, what kind of values can one bully get? That violence solves problems? That it's perfectly ok to stomp over people who are weaker than you? At the bottom line they grow up into people who turn the blind eye to the problem of bullying because they think that it is a perfectly normal part of growing up, even though they themselves were never actually on receiving end of it, and don't know how "normal" it is from that perspective. :-?

The killings ignited a national debate over bullying, but the record now shows Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold hadn't been bullied — in fact, they had bragged in diaries about picking on freshmen and "fags."
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/200 ... yths_N.htm

Neither were the victims of bullying like people think. They were suicidal and wanted to blow up the school with home-made bombs. They didn't target any specific people, they wanted to kill everyone and themselves because they were psychotic.

I wanted to get outta town for the summer, but the plans to do that have now officially fallen through. I guess I'll have to just get a job, and stay put. How depressing.
