You're a sports guy, you know Julian Moore, right?
At this point you could tell me Kevin Shields plays halfback for the Detroit Lions right now and the reason I wouldn't believe you would not be my familiarity with sports.

I, on the other hand, couldn't be further from being a sports guy.

Julianne!

Well I enjoyed it, it probably helped that I'd only read the book once and didn't think it was as amazing as a lot of people seem to. I thought everyone but Silk Spectre was very nicely cast, I enjoyed the soundtrack and the fight scenes, and I'm glad they didn't pull any punches for the finale like I was worried they would when I heard 'they've changed the ending'. I agree that the sex scene was too long, and I'm sick of that Leonard Cohen song, and Silk Spectre was a terrible actress, but overall the whole thing worked.
I worry that it won't really sell though, due to it being so damn dark.. That's what makes it a great story, of course, but it's not what makes money at the box office.
Honestly, if you've read the book twelve times and love it you're not going to enjoy the movie, since nothing but your own imagination and the book itself could possibly work for you.

Fool. Everyone knows Julianne Moore centers for the Detroit Red Wings. She's quite the enforcer, knocking San Jose Shark Jonathan Toews into the dugout. They had to replace him Tony Esposito, who came out of retirement. He was the best shortstop the Sharks ever had.
Well, I liked it. It was a pretty well done movie, and I now understand what that reviewer meant by them staying true to the story. To a large degree that's true. They do cut out some scenes and some lines, particularly some of them that I liked. Character development suffers.
But the different ending, they integrated it quite well.
It was a good movie. It was not worth paying $9 to see though; there aren't enough awesome special effects to justify the cost - rent it.
Crossfire: "Thank you! That explains it very nicely, and in a language that someone other than a physicist can understand..."
Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.
"Data" is not the plural of "anecdote"
Considering the source, a relatively economical use of special effects seems about right. Be pretty useless to turn this into three hours of colorful explosions.
